I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve had the cable news on today, Fox and CNN, and their emotional over the top reporting, like this is so world ending event is pathetic. I guess the only positive point to it is that they are not talking about Russia, nor back to back criticism of Trump. The fear mongering though is really incredible. No wonder so many people are afraid of their own shadow, afraid of raindrops, sleep breeze, or in the D.C. Area, a snowflake.

The app is free and if you use it on free wi-fi, like a hot spot, that’s free. If you use it on your home internet, you’re already paying for that, so no extra charge.
You ought to just download it to your PC and kick the tires a bit and see what you think.
I monitored several channels at the height of the hurricane and was able to assist by uploading visuals for people.
If you like listening to scanners during events of national importance, you might like Zello. And if you ever need it to communicate, that’s a plus, you already have it.

I went thru Ike on Galveston Island in 2008. It was a terrible storm but I had to be there for work.

Amen! So many Freepers affected by Irma who are in our prayers, and while Irma seems to be calming down, there are those still in danger from hurricane winds and tornadoes, storm-surges, rainfall-accumulation concerns, and lengthy power-outages.
Not to mention those in other states Irma still has in her path... and then all those facing repairs in Irma’s aftermath.
It could have been so much worse, but it is bad enough and still not over for all too many.
I only heard the moderators and occasional ‘trusteds’, and have only tried one channel. And they had to interrupt so often to tell people to stop talking over one another, it seemed like there was cacophony in that ‘box’ (?)
Will have to play with it more.
Someone posted that Shep was on FNC saying that mortuary teams were heading to the Keys. First of all, that doesn’t even make sense as far as the proper chain of custody goes for a dead body, but why would you say that on TV especially considering we’ve had zero reports of deaths in the Keys from Irma?
I have a Facebook friend whose in the Orlando area. Couldn’t buy gas, every place was out. Hunkering down with family. Two trees down, Internet went and then the power. There’s still enough cellular infrastructure going that she’s posting updates. They’re OK so far.
