We are definitely seeing interaction in the northern edges of Irma with the cold front. It’s stretched it ellipitically (infrared) along its north south axis. Almost as if a pulling force north is pulling, but she is stuck down on the Cuban coast, which has to be getting completely devastated.

Well that was quick enough. I should have checked before I posted. Wherever I read that about Mississippi & Alabama and the North Pole, it’s all crap.
Whatever I read, it was full of horse crap. Sorry I posted it.

Hahaha. I read that a couple of days ago and I said to my son, “Can you believe that?” All he could do was laugh as tears rolled down his face. He found that very funny.
Even as a woman I said that figures. We blow up quickly, unpredictable, and can leave a path of destruction in our wake.
Makes sense.

No clue. Irma bounced a little when it first dove into the Cuba coast. Got hung up in the Key coastal island chain. And is now wanting to go due West into Cuba, but is being pulled north. If it had weakened to a Cat 2 or 3 then I think it would have been pulled more north by now. We may have to wait for that or the trough to build more strength.

The eye is rolling along Cuba’s northeast coast where most of the “Cayo” resort areas are located. Current track would roll it right up to Varadero. Castro’s going to need a new economic plan because Cuba’s tourist industry is being demolished.

Can this hurricane just roll out into the gulf?

Gonna be nothing left of those resorts after a Cat 5 rolled right over them.

I wonder if they can shut down early to limit the damage?
To: littleharbour
This place is getting hit now. Maybe not eye wall but close enough.

Looks like it’s headed towards the gulf to me. But I’m certainly no hurricane expert.

Andrew was a Cat 5. The wind damage even far inland was way too severe and abnormal to not have been. Well built block and concrete buildings were LEVELED (Naranja Lakes, Pinewoods Villa). The storm flipped more cars, trucks, and planes than any other in history.
The hurricane experts realized that they had underestimated hurricane winds at the surface level-they turned out to be more stronger than they historically estimated. It’s upgrade was done with the Fujita wind experts and the hurricane researchers.

It’s a great app! It’s like a CB and there are channels based on situation and location.
