You could say that but they were still way off. If you put half the Gulf of Mexico within the cone, you’re probably going to be right.
Yippeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
above post meant for you
The point is, they always say, be prepared if you are in the cone. Also, forecasting has improved since Katrina so the cones are smaller, but there is always a fair amount of uncertainty more than 3 days out.
I’m glad to hear that. IIRC, that’s between 7,000 to 8,000 personnel. But if millions are going to be without power for long, I’m wondering if FL will need a lot more than that, Indiana’s for starters.
Bath water all around when Irma finally starts to move north.
Agree that there is always a fair amount of uncertainty a few days out but I’ve seen them miss so many times. And they may have improved forecasting some since 2005 but I don’t believe by a whole lot.
My only point is, if you live along the coast, keep an eye on it until it hits land.
Hey...thanks for the KW webcam link! One of the better webcam pix. I’ve never been to Key West. Looks adorable. Hope Irma just falls apart in Cuba.

Yes thanks for webcam link! Key West IS adorable! Have an old 1860’s cottage there...very worried...ZinGirl you should go sometime...but get off Duval ( bar scene) and get out on the water..
Q for anyone: Been watching the gov’s presser, anyone know which sign language is used by the interpreters?
That may update, so someone may want to save it and repost. I’m not set up to easily do that. (No web based image archive.)
Daughter and her family of five live on Davis Islands in Tampa Bay. They are about 25 yards from the ship channel and, of course in Zone A. While a well built home, the surge and wind will likely destroy it.
They are some miles away in a concrete building with few windows.
Got it now. Working fine. Thanks!
You will be in my prayers M Kehoe ((((Hugs))))
That’s true. My daughter saw that happening when she was escaping Pinellas County.
My son-in-law has a diesel Ford pickup. He said while there were lines at gas stations, diesel pumps had no one waiting. For future reference.
Tierra Verde ???
That’s where we are.
An electric car would be ridiculous in an emergency. Good point about diesel.
A light hearted moment in this very serious situation: Gov Scott’s sign language guy was very entertaining at his 9:30 update! Twitter was all afire with his performance. NN, thank you for all u do!
???
Did you intend to post to me?
