Canned meats? Good idea.
For water have you considered 5 gal. jugs and filling at one of the box dispensers? I keep 30 gal.s on hand even tho I have a well and a (manual hookup) gasoline generator.
3000 watts would do a refrigerator and a hot plate.
Rather than oil lamps I have LED camping lanterns and rechargeable batteries. And a few solar rechargers.
Also those LED head lamps work well for investigating things in the dark.
Yeah, we’re both on low carb diets, so mystery meat in a can will do us just fine. And we have an Olde Brooklyn LED lantern, and flashlights galore, including a 4 D cell Maglite that doubles as a nice, stout club, if called upon. I should have ordered military surplus jugs from Sportsman’s Guide when the thought popped into my head, but we’ll make do. As long as we can keep the fridge running, a table lamp or two, an oscillating fan, and the cell phones charged, we’ll be good to go. We’re not in a flood plain. If I got a real ornery hair stuck sideways, I could fire up the wood stove, take the burner plates off, and cook up a storm (pun semi-intended). And as long as there’s pressure in the water lines, I don’t mind taking a tepid shower so I don’t smell like a dead bear. If it gets really dicey, we’ll have plenty of food water, light, meds refilled, a little power, and communications for several days. Oh, and lots of ammo in case there are those who wish to do a little ‘window shopping’.
