My niece is by herself in Ft Lauderdale just on the other side of the Intercostal, between A1A and US1.
Her father will be flying back from Europe on Monday via Detroit. All her neighbors are helping out. Her Mom will be flying back September 22.
Tomorrow she will decide if she wants me to fly down to help out. Luckily she is prepared i.e. water, food, dog supplies/medication, hand cranked generator for iPhone, emergency lights, bleach, generator, etc. Any other advice???
If there are strongly worded evacuation orders for FLL area, she should fly up to visit you, rather than you flying down here.
I don’t see how we can escape from getting some of it but first the spaghettis were east of us now they are west. I don’t think an exact track is available yet.
Just got off the phone with my son-in-law in Sugarloaf,(the county starts evac of the Keys tomorrow) we are going to wait until wed. night to see what this thing will do.
Thanks for the heads up.
East of US1/west of A1A is Evacuation Zone B in Broward County, subject to a mandatory evacuation order. You could fly down there only to be ordered to evacuate.
12 volt charger, maybe even a 12 volt inverter.
Obviously bon-bons and palm frond fans.
If she decides to stay in place and not evacuate herself, I just posted a link which she may wish to look at:
The commentary contains a discussion of the writer’s suggestion to store 30 galloons of gas for the generator. One of the commenters states that the National fire code sets the limit for home storage of gasoline at 25 gallons. The implication seems to be that if your house burns down and investigators observe more than the 25 gallon limit in containers, your home insurance claim could experience difficulties.
