The tweet: “Please think twice before trying to leave Houston en masse. No evacuation orders have been issued for the city. #Harvey”
That sounds like a polite way of saying “don’t evacuate”.
Yeah, he could get a lot of trouble from that.

This Mayor has spent his time running his mouth about issues that he has no control over like global warming.
He didn’t pay attention to his job, and this storm shows it.
I saw a video of him making fun of Republicans because of Hillary’s e-mails.
Well, the big mouth needs to spend less time being a Democrat and more time being the Mayor of Houston.

As one that has lived in and outside of Houston since 1983, you CANNOT effectively evacuate this area in the time frame that this was an issue. Mayor Turner is a typical Houston Democrat but he didn’t get this wrong.

Would it have been so awful for him to say,
“If you live in an area of Houston that has flooded in the past, then you should evacuate. This storm is bringing us 50 inches of rain. If you are worried that you live in an area that might flood with that kind of rain, then evacuate.”
He had days to say that.
He didn’t.
He basically told everyone to only listen to him and then he told them to stay.
The people of Houston will have to decide whether he took the proper actions for this emergency, and BEFORE this emergency.

I listened to his press conference yesterday and had turn him off. He seems to have about a 90 IQ.

He's a piece of crap but I think he got this right. Houston is too big to evacuate in that time frame. There would have been even more chaos than their is.
The writer is correct, however, that if he were a Republican the media and "experts" would be all over him.

He was right. If he had been Republican he would have ripped apart. The rule is find the nearest Republican or White to blame.

People who have never lived in a place with the population density of Houston have no idea how crowded it is.
During Rita people were stuck for days in their cars three miles from home.
Gridlock occurs on a routine basis on a normal traffic day.
If you call for an evacuation, you’re just going to get thousands of people stranded for days in their cars not moving an inch.

People keep on electing these POS politicians who care less about the citizens that are their enormous responsibility. It is always those who are helpless and dependent who get hurt. I will NEVER forget Katrina where people walked off their jobs and this storm with the Seniors in wheelchairs in water. There is a special place in Hell for those who choose politics and selfishness before the lives of others.

As much as I can't stand Dems, I will say two positive things about Mayor Turner, since at this moment we are all Houstonians:
- At least he is not a lesbian LGBTXYZ zealot like the previous mayor.
- He made the right call, it would have been far worse to attempt to evacuate. Many more people would have been killed trying to get out of town.

The Corps of Engineers personally briefed the mayor at least two days before Harvey struck and the mayor decided to not only ignore their advice but counseled his residence against taking any action. Apparently, he didn't think that buckets of rain with little wind was a problem. I have not heard a word from the fool since. Joe Bastardi was predicting this disaster at least one week out when everyone else was focusing on Charlottesville. He is now very concerned about Galveston getting hit with the outflow from the bay.
