Hurricane Harvey made landfall near Rockport TX about 10:00PM CDT Friday night. Top sustained winds were 130mph. Rockport High School sustained heavy damage when a portion of the roof collapsed. A senior housing complex collapsed. The Rockport courthouse sustained major damage with a cargo trailer halfway in the building. Multiple tornadoes reported in the Houston/Galveston areas. There are reports of scattered structural fires and a shooting was reported in Corpus Christi. Residents along the San Bernard River were advised to evacuate and most TX Gulf coast counties are under flash flood watches.
Many locations are under a boil-water notice. Power outages are widespread. President Donald Trump promptly granted a Disaster Declaration to Texas Governor Greg Abbotts request. More than 700 members of the Texas Army and Air National Guards, Texas State Guard and the Texas Military Department have been activated and are positioning themselves throughout the state ahead of Hurricane Harvey and its anticipated landfall later this week. Ahead of the storm, FEMA sent supplies from its warehouse in Fort Worth to a staging point at Randolph Air Force Base near San Antonio.

Thread I: Potentially Catastrophic Hurricane Harvey Approaches Texas Gulf Coast
No charge.
There is a thread on twitter using that photo. The posters to the thread say it is the La Vita Bella assisted living in Dickenson and that the residents have been rescued. Who knows if any of that is true.
-Exxon shuts down area refineries. (Go get gas now!)
-Some neighborhoods now asked not to use toilets.
-340-370 BILLION gallons of water have fallen in area.
The best is people need to just stay off the roads period.....I don’t know how much clearer the authorities can get about that.
People driving through rescue areas are creating akes that interfer with rescues....
As for people’s homes getting water in.....take ax or something to break through roof...but get ON the roof ‘first’...not in the attic..
"I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart;
I will tell of all Your wonders.
I will be glad and exult in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High."
Notice it is not I did give thanks or I am giving thanks, but I WILL.
Houston press conference - official asking for volunteers with high clearance vehicles and boats to come forward to assist in rescues. Their goal is to get most people to high ground before darkness and more rain.

Per this tweet photo comes from La Vita Bella nursing home.
Am checking if such a place exists.
I don’t doubt the authenticity of that picture.
Please remove this picture from the thread.
I am very sorry for posting it, it just made me so sad. I assumed it was genuine. Going back I see the person who posted it is NOT in Houston and was more interested in the fight last night than the plight of Houston people.
I apologize for not sourcing it and posting out of emotion.
It’s fake.....there’s absolutely nothing on Google in News or general search showing anything about La Vita Bella in Dickenson except advertising and showing it’s an Elder care home......if that were true there would be something....there isn’t.
Glad to hear yer coming aint seen you in ages
You’ll like this Cherokee village place
Its retro its nice and is very natural
Lots of hiking trails, fossils, peacocks chickens and stuff, but a BIG old Pavilion with kitchen the works and a fire place.
Se ya there
Ok, never mind, it may be real after all.
They have been rescued. Thank Gd.
From twitter:
Update: @DoHoBob has an Aunt at La Bella Vita- and they have been rescued. Thank God for the Emergency Services #houstonflooding
No problem Yaelle.....that’s why Freepers are the best....when we question we search to be sure......they’ve corrected me whenever things aren’t as they seem..why I love it here so!
We had power and phone during the 44” rain in 24hrs flood of 1979 south of Houston. We had 18” in the house.
It’s a fake Yaelle.....sommeones trying to cover their tracks...IMO
Maybe it is real after all, I don’t know.
See my above post where someone has tweeted about a relative there and that they have been rescued.
It really is gdawful there so if this photo isn’t real there might be other seniors in bad straits so feel free to leave the photo unless we know it’s fake.
Again, my mistake either way for posting out of emotion and not sourcing. Sorry.
No worries. I would have posted the picture as well had I come across it. Damn, Photoshop is getting so good these days it’s hard to tell what’s real and what is not. Upon closer examination, the giveaway was the ceiling light that was still on in the background. With that much water, there is no chance of electricity being on in the building.
Holy crap...what a merry-go-round!
It’s ok, this is an unsettling time for people and it’s a heart-wrenching photo, real or fake.
