The National Hurricane Center has issued an advisory instructing Texas residents along the Gulf of Mexico coast to "rush" their storm preparations as Hurricane Harvey "rapidly" intensifies.
All preparations for residents along the middle Texas coast should be completed today, the National Hurricane Center said. The storm is expected to make landfall around 1 a.m. Saturday.
The coastal city of Corpus Christi has so far not implemented mandatory evacuations, but Mayor Joe McComb called for people to leave in the "strongest possible terms."

Mandatory or they won’t evacuate.
Bad move by mayor.
Help! Can anyone tell me what this typically means for Austin?
How long can you tread water?

Is your place up high? If so, you should be okay.
Heads up. I am always concerned about these storms because my family members live in Houston, Galveston and Lake Charles, LA. Our biggest problems here in the Blacks Hill are blizzards and forest fires.
I pray for everyone’s safety down there.
Always wanted to live in Galveston. Maybe not so much now.
From another article I read. I suspect the Cat 3 will come into
play with a lot of people getting inland a 100 miles or so.
snip
Weather officials expect Harvey to become a category 3 hurricane
before landfall. Category 3 hurricanes boast winds of 111 to 129 mph.
Its expected the storm will arrive on the Texas coast Friday night.
Prayers for those in the ‘cone’. I know the feeling having lived thru many bad hurricanes here on the OBX of NC.
Thanks. One of my kids has only lived there a short time. North of the river.
The Weather Service correctly predicted Katrina five days before and the morons did not leave. I think it was Bush’s fault and he hated black people or something.
The DNC is already plotting with the media on how to pin this on Trump.
It means all his coastal party pals are already at his house ;)
These areas will become a looter’s paradise.
Finally, when most everyone realized how big a hoax the global warming claims were, here comes the first hurricane in years.
Poor libs. They just can’t catch a break these days.
advice for stay-behinds.......
take two old credit cards,
and put one in each shoe.
might be helpful later on
“I am always concerned about these storms because my family members live in Houston, Galveston and Lake Charles, LA.”
Small world - I have lived in all three and have family in Houston and Lake Charles. Not many weather crises here in Phoenix :)
East Austin north of the river.
Actual RATS at weather sites are already lynching the CC mayor.
