Yep. Apparently handing them the marker makes a lot of them go ahead and get in the truck!

Do you know how long it takes to drain that area? IE they get a foot one day, and another foot the next day, is the first foot still mostly undrained?
In my somewhat hilly part of Virginia the peak river height lasts 6 hours and is usually 1/2 gone by 24.

I’m going to assume slowly as the river system will still be subject to storm surge. Nothing really drains until the storm surge is past.

Hope so :-)
For anyone else curious about oil prices, just checked. WTI down 2%, Brent down 1%. FWIW.

I'm surprised it's still functioning. That means the pier's still there. My house:

Have family in Corpus Christie-their house is boarded up and they have evacuated. Prayers this is a big nothing, doubt it, and never, ever worth the risk.

Yep! It's going to cut Padre Island in two. Best case scenario: Padre Island National Seashore.
Worst case: Packery Channel. Watch for these names.

That’s what Hurricane Charlie did to Captiva Island in SW Florida. Split it in two. Now known as North and South Captiva. Need to cross from one to the other by boat.

Aransas Pass now reporting winds at 60 m.p.h.
I can't seem to find a land station, oil platform, or buoy reporting hurricane strength winds at all.
