I've long been strongly opposed to any escalation in our military in Afghanistan. In fact, we should have vacated that place years ago.
I'll hold off on any criticism of President Trump on this for now, though. It looks like his address last night was very lacking in details (deliberately), so it's impossible to analyze it objectively.
I will say this, though: There's a reason why Donald Trump is the President of the United States, while John McCain will be remembered as a corrupt U.S. Senator and two-time loser in presidential elections. I hope the President and his advisors keep that in mind every time this @sshole from Arizona opens his mouth.
