Monday, August 21, 2017: WATCH LIVE: PRESIDENT TRUMP ADDRESSES THE NATION ON AFGHANISTAN at 9:00 PM EASTERN
Fine by me. Mighty big area, tho.
Dunno it seems to me that’s automatic!
But Germany declared war on us on December 8 (or thereabouts!), 1941. FDR got a declaration for war from Congress so after, so I guess protocol demands you do reciprocate!
So, he is going full Obama?
Yes. This is exactly out of the Obama playbook.
It’s hard to police all those poppy fields. But many Afghans can see no other way to survive.
The prohibition accentuates the clandestine trade problem. If people got smashed without it, the poppies would be growing here.
Drug problems are ultimately godlessness problems. With no Prince of Peace, people seek chemical peace.
Welcome to the Free Republic.
Hard to have any faith with that Rat McMaster entrenched in this.
Obama pretended.
No, Obama sent a lot of troops into Afghanistan - a huger surge. All to fight for a victory that’s impossible. I guess we will just keep making the same mistake again and again.
President Trump does not like to stand at a podium. He likes to sit in discussion groups or as the highlighted speaker. It becomes very evident if you have watched old videos...or watched the apprentice.
My question is what are all the contractors from Iraq etc doing now? At one time they outnumbered US troops. The cost is the cost but those guys weren’t green and don’t count as troop casualties for US. Nor would they be as likely to become casualties.
I’ve never heard that. But they took our ships, which is an act of war, just like 9/11 was.
Your big misunderstanding, IMO, is assuming because the Constitution gives Congress the power to declare war, that the president needs one to excercise his power to fight one. There have always been situations where we fought wars without one. DOWs have traditionally been made only against governments with whom we previously had diplocatic relations. We didn’t issue a DOW when we fought indian tribes, or in the civil war, because we didn’t have diplomatic relations with those countries. Although John Adams fought a defacto naval war with France, without seeking a DOW.
If he will not be persuaded to become a nation builder, and he has indeed changed the rules of engagement, and he holds Pakistan accountable, then I will withhold judgement. On the other hand, I will have a horrible pit in my stomach when one more American life or limb is lost.
100% agree. This man is well focused, very bright and takes counsel from many different views; makes an educated decision. Using the pillars to spell out a very articulate and good plan moving forward was helpful. There is an end in sight to this; he is not over there to change the world... he has us over there to kill terrorists.Laser-focused and not just using military force for a change...he is hitting them on all sides.
As far as the teleprompters, HE IS NOT A POLITICIAN; that is not who we put in office. I could care less how he looks reading the teleprompter. It will may better with time...he’s only been doing it for a short time for God sakes. You all try to do it if you’re all so expert on teleprompter usage. It is like “rapid reader” from the 50s...it is very difficult. Settle down-he’s doing fine. Of course, we could go back to the melodic speeches of Barack Obama and have him bust into ghetto speak every now and then... how would that sound? Thanks anyway, I will take this President who speaks from the heart, who is natural and means what he says. He speaks to Americans - not Harvard graduates.
But under Marquis of Queensbury rules.
A feint as much against traditionalists of America as anything else.
Donald Trump will give us chair busting rules.
Obama (LB) opened the door to Iraq and we had to redo what we had already done.
BS. It was a one-time action to enforce our policy against the use of WMD. Period. It was necessary, in part to show that idiot in Korea that Trump would not equivocate in standing up against that kind of nonsense.
LOl. Like Russia did? So, according to you U.S. soldiers are lower than Soviet troops?
Will they?
Well, it’s now a question of who ends up exploiting the considerable mineral wealth that’s there. My money is still on the Chinese.
