DVID reports on the damage sustained by the Navy vessel:
Damage to the portside is visible as the Guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain (DDG 56) steers towards Changi Naval Base, Republic of Singapore, following a collision with the merchant vessel Alnic MC while underway east of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore on Aug. 21. Significant damage to the hull resulted in flooding to nearby compartments, including crew berthing, machinery, and communications rooms. Damage control efforts by the crew halted further flooding. The incident will be investigated.

Looks like USS Cole .
Looks like same ship area rammed on the Fitzgerald?
Maybe it's time to retire both John McCains?
If I am not mistaken it looks like where the USS Cole was hit as in the side/middle, not in the front. (I know nothing of starboard or port) Is that where the most people could be harmed?
Sorry, you said it first. I had to go looking to see if I was correct.
Port side and further aft than Fitz. Berthing area? Time to ban those bulbous noses on oil tankers.
Port side means Left and Starboard side is the right side.
Ya think?
It seems obvious the commanders put in place by the Obama administration were/are affirmative action!
Isn’t the “New Navy” just grand! So glad it is socially functional.
How in hell does something like this happen?
It certainly looks extremely odd?
How does ship manage to get T-Bone another ship that is not under attack?
Port = left
Starboard = right
Not being Navy, commander = captain?

Only if you can’t tell your port from your starboard.
Rumors are both captains are affirmative action guys.
How could a modern warship with state-of-the-art radar and global positioning satellite technology collide with another ship in the 21st century?
I'd like to know if it's true. However, it's hard to believe that even an affirmative action captain and deck watch could be that incompetent... twice.
