take a knee for team-less Colin Kaepernick at Brooklyn rally
Because Colin Kaepernick took a knee, these cops have his back.
Law enforcers past and present turned out Saturday in a show of support for the controversial NFL quarterback whose public stance against racism and police violence preceded his current unemployment.
What Colin Kaepernick did is try to bring awareness that this nation unfortunately has ignored for far too long, said NYPD Sgt. Edwin Raymond, who helped organize the Brooklyn event.
And that's the issue of racism in America and policing in America. We decided to gather here today because of the way he's being railroaded for speaking the obvious truth.
Kaepernick, 29, finds himself without an NFL job so far this year after he began kneeling during the National Anthem before games last season. Supporters insist the quarterback was blackballed over his politics.
Dozens of NYPD officers joined Raymond in wearing black shirts with the logo #WeStandWithKap. City Council member Jumaane Williams opted for a red Kaepernick jersey.
Near the end of the rally, all involved raised their fists and took a synchronized knee in support of the one-time San Francisco starter. Veteran quarterback Kaepernick remains unsigned after opting out of his contract with the 49ers, even after announcing he would stand for the anthem this year.

Current NFL players both black and white showed their backing of the polarizing player during exhibition games this year. Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, an African-American, raised his fist during The Star-Spangled Banner last week as white teammate Chris Long stood with an arm wrapped around him. The assembled police officers were joined by other Kaepernick backers just three weeks before the kickoff of the new NFL season.
The fact that this man is no longer in the NFL has nothing to do with stats on the football field, but for taking a knee and pointing out some of the flaws that have been tormenting people of color in this country for decades, said Darius Gordon of the Justice League NYC.
Speaker Stanley Fritz of Citizen Action of New York echoed the suggestion that Kaepernick was barred over his politics. Colin took a knee because so many black and brown bodies have seen violence put against them with no repercussions, said Fritz. And because of that, despite of his obvious ability to play on the field, he's being blocked from joining a team. Legendary NYPD whistleblower Frank Serpico returned to his native borough to add his voice in backing Kaepernick. I am here to support anyone who has the courage to stand up against injustice and oppression anywhere in this country and the world, said the 81-year-old former detective.
I bet if I looked hard enough I could find active duty military and veterans who support Bradley “Chelsea” Manning too. So what?
This thread needs a barf alert.
Justice league? Really? Wasn't that a Saturday morning cartoon? They're getting an upgrade.
I didn't realize there were so many trans sexual NY cops to impress!
Why do people pay to get ticked off?
Don’t they realize cap does not like cops, he thinks they are the problem. He wore socks last year with pictures of pigs on them.
The NFL is infamous for its ruthless approach to personnel. There is a shortage of quarterbacks capable of leading a team into the playoffs. If CK had the talent someone would pick him up and tell all of us who disapprove of his behavior to pound sand.
Do you suppose the Coast Guard head, might be one of them?
I always wondered where people like myself would stand with cops when things get really nasty(ier) in this country, and I got my answer at San Jose and Berkley. I’ve never been a cop hater, but there’s no question in my mind anymore that police in this country will know what side their bread’s buttered on. They’ll turn on us. I’m coming to believe that the military will as well...given the fact that so few of them probably ever heard of the Kronstadt sailors.
“Dozens”
You don’t say. Out of what, 40,000+ ?
IIRC that person is called the commandant, just like the Marines.
Veroes? Hillains? Where’s the score?
Before long we’re going to be protesting ourselves.
Hey maybe that’s the point.
If a team were to hire and play this guy it could cut NFL viewership another 8-10 percent.
I think some team should do it.
In just a few years this rat's nest could be cleaned out.
That kook has some issues - he needs to be replaced, pronto.
Here’s a good reason why many of us ignore or fart in the general direction of NFL threads.
yep
Uh, he was like ranked 23rd for his last go as qb. Not stellar so why hire him? Oh, affirmative action. Duh.
I don’t do Fakebook or tweet and I’m spending less time with bread & circuses like the NFL & Netflix, and more time walking, lifting (not 12 oz weights), zeroing sights with lasers, polishing feed ramps, checking gear, etc. And FR of course to keep up morale.
OK, black millionaires and beige ones like `Kap’ in sports dominated by black athletes, many of them out-an-out thugs when they aren’t annoying drama queens virtue-signalling and complaining about the raw deal they got ...
or Samuel Jackson & Spike Lee, Jamie Foxx mooning over his missing lord and savior. But the same constant bitching and demands for more-and-more, and they wonder why movie and ticket sales are tanking.
All of them and their cuck allies—they can kiss the only part of me that isn’t beige.
Time to do some benches. I was benching 300 lbs the other night

in this dream I was having.
I no longer watch the NFL because so much of it is political and political correctness anymore. Krapperdick is not playing because he cannot compete with other, BETTER, quarterbacks in the league. I also find myself not able to universally back police officers in the country anymore - San Jose, Berzerkly, Charllotsville, etc - makes me wonder if they can be trusted at all.
