President Trump has told senior aides that he has decided to remove Stephen K. Bannon, the embattled White House chief strategist who helped Mr. Trump win the 2016 election, according to two administration officials briefed on the discussion.
The president and senior White House officials were debating when and how to dismiss Mr. Bannon. The two administration officials cautioned that Mr. Trump is known to be averse to confrontation within his inner circle, and could decide to keep on Mr. Bannon for some time.
As of Friday morning, the two men were still discussing Mr. Bannons future, the officials said. A person close to Mr. Bannon insisted the parting of ways was his idea, and that he had submitted his resignation to the president on Aug. 7, to be announced at the start of this week, but it was delayed in the wake of the racial unrest in Charlottesville, Va.
Mr. Bannon had clashed for months with other senior West Wing advisers and members of the presidents family.
But the loss of Mr. Bannon, the right-wing nationalist who helped propel some of Mr. Trumps campaign promises into policy reality, raises the potential for the president to face criticism from the conservative news media base that supported him over the past year.

It could be an op to identify leakers.
The DUmb State couldn’t resist this type of cheese.
Would be interesting to see if this a leak to expose leakers
This is the NY Times. I'm surprised they didn't say "white-wing nationalist".
I’m not sure Steve Bannon would be thrilled at answering to a chief of staff who was a career military guy and civil servant. That’s like Microsoft’s board of directors telling Bill Gates he has to report to his local post office supervisor.
It is President Trump, not President Bannon. Breitbart’s over the top, constant attacks against McMaster cost Bannon his job. Now watch Breitbart become the new CNN. Any issues related to Bannon or McMaster should have been dealt with by Trump. Breitbart and those publicly pushing for the firing of McMaster just handed those opposed to Trump a BIG BRASS RING. Dumb.
Sure is a lot of turnover here... every week it seems. sigh...
This is the wrong move.. its over if he does
So, is Trump on the way to being RINOized?
Too many posters here are giving credence to the FAKE NEWS purveyor, the New York Times.
Bannon probably leaked it.
After what he said about North Korea, I knew he was on borrowed time. Not wise of him.
Hope not for 3 reasons
Bannon probably one of his few honest pit bulls with original thought
The Swamp wills this and will rejoice
That Trump would be disloyal enough to tell others first - others who, leak like last nights Depends
REALLY?!?!???
And someone on K Street will hire Bannon for $2 mil a year, plus $75k per speech.
That is Purgatory in DC.
War is hell.
“Bannon was the last one pushing the agenda.”
You must not have paid much attention to what Trump has been saying for thirty years and bought into the media narrative.
Media strategy:
1. Give Bannon credit for all things Trump.
2. Demonize Bannon as a racist, nazi, etc.
3. Then tie him around Trump’s neck.
4. Conclusion: Trump is Bannon and Bannon is Trump.
For whatever reason, Bannon gave Trump no other possible choice.
If Bannon and McMasters are both gone it’s only a matter of time before the Slimes or Buzzfeed report that Trump has rendered his resignation.
So now it’s official: Javanka is now running the country.
This is ridiculous. Trump has been talking about trade since the 1980’s. Bannon came in 3 months before the election and collaborated with a leftist journalist in a book that made him out to be the brains of Donald Trump’s movement. He called a leftist journalist to undermine Trump’s national security strategy with North Korea and has been back stabbing and leaking to reporters for months about Trump.
It’s all optics anyway. Trump will call him late at night for advice like he does Lewandowski, Roger Stone and all the other aides he’s pushed out in the past.
No. LS was out this morning pushing that was approved by Kelly and trump
What I just heard is that he was not getting along with General Kelly the new chief of staff. So something had to give.
