Traffic jams on U.S. 26 around Prineville eased late Thursday night, according to police,
But that mess was created by people heading to a single eclipse festival. Today, authorities expect an influx of people headed to destinations throughout Central Oregon.
And this is just the beginning. About 1 million people are projected to visit the state of Oregon to see the total solar eclipse Monday.

Bingo!
Sorry. I meant the people that I know are all Obama lovers. You can’t pick your relatives.
FWIW, I’m just delighted at the goose this might give the economy. And I love the entrepreneurial spirit a lot of folks are showing. :-)
Both my neighbors are farms, and they're worried about people coming in and trying to drive into their fields and damage the crops or spook their cattle. They plan to be driving the county road and making sure people keep moving on.
I cannot believe the estimates of 70,000 people going to Weiser. Incredible. I used to go there for football games in high school from McCall, another small town.

Many of the businesses that operate in the small towns like Weiser are going to have to shut down because they will not be able to get to work. I understand that the state of Idaho is not allowing trucks on route 95 on Monday.
Not a bad idea on 95 or 55 out of Boise.
Your friend needs to check conditions in Bend. People up that way are talking about a lot of smoke in the air ... but maybe it’s just a way to discourage traveling to there.
This is Eastern Oregon where most of the highways mentioned are glorified county roads.
I saw on the news this morning that most gas stations in Bend are out of fuel. The Fred Meyer’s store in Bend sold 35,000 gallons yesterday!
You should have left on Monday. They showed a 30 mile long traffic jam on Hwy 26 yesterday.
Their expecting in Madras, Oregon to get 100,000
It’s a good thing for everyone that this is happening in the daytime instead of night.
Did the govt employee nannys remind people to turn on their lights?
Did the govt employee nannys remind people to turn on their lights?
99.75% here. Not gonna drive 15 miles to see totality.
“Burned out eye sockets? “
With all the counterfeit eclipse glasses that have been sold that’s not such a far fetched possibility.
Thanks for the link. Cannot believe roads are clear on 97 at Madras and Redmond to Prineville! Headed to Redmond late today.
