Will we wind with another battle at Gettysburg for Civil War #2?
GOOD!!!!
The bloodiest conflict our country ever endured, that resolved the issues of states rights, secession, and slavery, relied exclusively on military actions. These military actions were fought out to the last measure of human endurance. Great men like Grant, Sherman, Lee, and Johnston and their soldiers resolved what should have been political issues. Monuments North and South testify to the sincerity of those few who endured the tragedy of that struggle.
Their involvement came after abolitionists and planters and their political allies failed to identify those positions outside their inflexible ideologies that would have brought peaceful agreement. Instead these fire-eating miscreants of both persuasions stumbled into the Civil War.
Now similar intellectual dwarfs would rewrite this history.
In doing my genealogy, I discovered a Civil War General who was killed in one of the major battles. One day I hope to visit that battlefield as part of my history and American history.
BTW that General fought for the Union side, yet I hold no animosity towards any of the Confederacy information, statues or honors that might be present at that site.
...despite unrest over Confederate memorials.
We are in the middle of an odd kind of coup. It reminds me of the early nazi’s in Germany. They won’t win this time, even if they call themselves BLM, Antifa, etc.
Law enforcement needs to crack down on these rioters or they will only get worse.
Well, damn. Katie has brass ones.
No — they will leave Gettysburg alone since that is where the North stomped the South. The Left likes that one. The others? Not so sure.
Don’t change a damn thing!
They had better beef up their security and be prepared to put down armed invaders.
Gettysburg is in my back yard and it was good to hear that.
I received an ad for a Civil War game in my email. We are in such a lunatic place right now I thought, maybe I should get it before it’s banned!
Then they went to Charlottesville.
This monument of Robert E. Lee at Gettysburg is spectacular. The entire park is unforgettable.
Well, they had better have the battlefield well guarded. Those leftist hyenas will not hesitate to attack the monuments at night, with sledge hammers and/or explosives. There are surely some traitors in the Gburg area who’d be happy to look the other way.
The Civil War amendments were written to centralize Federal power enough so that slavery could be made illegal. Now that slavery is gone and most of the racial discrimination practices have ended it’s time to repeal those amendments. The centralized power they give to Washington is used by the left way beyond what those amendments were meant to remedy. If a convention of states is ever convened those amendments plus the 16th and 17th should be repealed.
bump from a 5x Gettysburg visitor...
Well, that’s the irony. Most of the idiots wanting to tear down statues wouldn’t know where to look for them unless someone pointed them out.
Destruction of our history ping list. I think this will be a high volume ping list. Please let me know if you want on or off the list.
I am fortunate enough to have ancestors who fought on both sides of that battle. My Northern ancestors were with the 124th New York Volunteer Infantry, the “Orange Blossoms” and they defended Houck’s Ridge and the Triangular field leading to Devil’s Den. My Southern ancestors fought with the 11th Mississippi Infantry, Company C, the “Prairie Rifles”. Those men went forward on the third day with Pickett. It’s insane that in the current climate, only the Union side be honored. Deo Vindice!
