If President Trump pardons former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, it “would be an official presidential endorsement of racism,” the American Civil Liberties Union said on Monday.
Arpaio, now 85 years old, is famous for his tough stand on illegal immigration. He was convicted two weeks ago of criminal contempt for violating a court order instructing him to stop detaining people suspected of being in the country illegally.
Fox News interviewed Trump on Sunday at his club in Bedminster, N.J.
“I am seriously considering a pardon for Sheriff Arpaio,” Fox quoted the president as saying. “He has done a lot in the fight against illegal immigration. He’s a great American patriot, and I hate to see what has happened to him.”
Trump reportedly said the pardon could happen in the next few days.
On Tuesday morning, Trumped retweeted the Fox News “exclusive,” which read: “President Trump 'seriously considering' a pardon for ex-Sheriff Joe Arpaio.”

There is only one reason that “racism” is the default criticism the left always falls back on. That is because the left has no ideas. They have no clue how to help people out of poverty, they have no clue how to decrease crime or run businesses or protect the environment or basically do anything productive. All they have is that tired old refrain of “racism.” And they use that old refrain over and over to prevent themselves from hearing actual ideas on how to improve things, kind of like “Na-na, I can’t hear you!”

Get this. A friend of the family has a daughter-in-law whose family is from Taiwan. Their family was persecuted by the Communists, stole everything they owned. The D-I-L goes off to college and then joins the ACLU as a lawyer (to fight President Trump, they told us). Let that sink in for a minute.
Half the country no longer cares about empty charges of “racism”. The Ctrl-Left has cried wolf so many times, we no longer listen. The other half hates Trump and everything he says, no matter what. Why would anyone listen to ACLU threats at this point? Pardon Arpaio because it’s the right thing to do.

IIRC, there’s a paper/study out there that breaks down the political leanings of immigrants and their brood from Communist countries.
Basically, after a generation, two at most, of “being here” there’s very little anti-Communism to be found. Memories tend to be short for many.
Example: Look at the Cubans in FL; they vote less GOP the longer they live here.
