No bats. No sticks. No backpacks.
Those are on the list of zero tolerance rules that Commissioner William B. Evans and Mayor Martin J. Walsh told organizers of a controversial free speech rally scheduled to be held on Boston Common on Saturday.
The Boston Free Speech Coalition, which also goes by the name New Free Speech Movement, will get a permit, but it will have major restrictions, the mayor said.
Under the permit rules, the free speech rally will be limited to two hours, from noon to 2 p.m., and it must be peaceful, the mayor said.
No weapons, no backpacks, no sticks, Walsh explained. We are going to have a zero-tolerance policy. If anyone gets out of control at all it will be shut down.

So... all Antifa has to do is throw one brick through one window and the whole Free Speech rally comes to a quick end, I assume.
The Hecklers Veto.

How did we live so long without the Confederate monuments bothering anyone?
You can bet $10 million bucks now its going to get out of hand. Occupy lasted way longer there than most places. There must be 9 universities in Boston with mush mind kids.
The mayor of Boston is racist because he said anyone.
It will last about 5 minutes.
.
I would exceed the two hour limit and fight in court if it gets shut down. That in my opinion is Unconstitutional
So only the anti-protesters will have weapons and the people with the permit will be sitting ducks. I hope there are some "defenders" who will be on the sidelines ready for when the antifas attack....
And then the usual suspects will again demand that Trump reject racism, etc.
Come to think of it...we shouldn't be surprised if the Maoists show up on Saturday in Nazi t-shirts just to make sure things go they way they want.
And LOTS of cameras.....
Of course BLM and anarchist will counter protest with bats, clubs,
bottles, bricks and flame throwers.
The free speech people will be defenseless and Antifa will show up with whatever they want.
No weapons sounds reasonable. They restrict backpacks at sporting events and other public gatherings so I guess that seems reasonable. Why only two hours? Do they really think that’s as long as they can keep the peace? Doesn’t Boston have a goodly sized swat and riot police?
Sorry - I’m smelling a rat here. Why on earth would you do this at this time?
So it’s really a not so free speech rally.
You can damn well bet if this were in reverse, anyone protesting would be arrested (or shot) on the spot. It's open game on white people in this country, and seems they are willing to let it happen.
All of boasting about taking care of business when the time comes is a crock, particularly since no one will come out and say what specifically it will take to fight back.
Counter Protesters didn't need a permit, no sound, on the principle that you could Protest but you should could expect to be counter protested.
Antifa shows up, commits an act of violence, and the city obligingly shuts down a free speech rally as though it was Antifa’s dutiful servant.
“No bats. No sticks. No backpacks.”
So the protestors will be disarmed but the Antifa crowd that shows up to surround them will not be.
Antifa’s early round weapons (water bottles with frozen water, soda cans filled with cement and balloons filled with urine) are not covered by the ban. Expect to see all of these flying into the assemblers from the start.
