Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams called for the removal of the giant carving that depicts three Confederate war leaders on the face of state-owned Stone Mountain, saying it “remains a blight on our state and should be removed.”
“We must never celebrate those who defended slavery and tried to destroy the union,” Abrams said in a series of tweets posted early Tuesday, a response to the deadly violence sparked by white supremacist groups in Charlottesville, Va.

By removing all confederate images and statues we are trying to deny that slavery ever happened in the US. This internal fight will be taken advantage of by our external enemies like NoKo, China, Russia and Islam.
I seem to recall that Gen. Sherman also owned slaves (or perhaps it was his wife).
Unless she be cheatin’, she just killed any chance she ever had of being Governor.
It is state property and was purchased by the state in the late 50’s. The carving cannot be altered or removed without the approval of the state legislature

I stand corrected, Stone Mountain was originally under private ownership. It is now owned as a park by the State of Georgia.
I have a feeling if the leftist haters try to destroy this monument, there WILL be a real civil war in Georgia.
