LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers continued their historic 2017 run, using a five-run eighth inning to beat the White Sox, 6-1, on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, becoming the first team since the 2004 Cardinals to be 50 games over .500.
The Dodgers, who have the best record in baseball at 84-34, reached 50 wins at home for the third straight season. They are on pace to win 117 games, one more than the Major League record shared by the 2001 Seattle Mariners and the 1906 Chicago Cubs.

Chicago Cubs in 1906 won 116 games and lost 36. They played 152 games of their 154 game schedule. Can the Dodgers can get to 116 wins in 152 games? For the Dodgers to match the Cubs’ output of 1906 they would have to win 123 games.
If you mean paying respects to the flag and national anthem, most teams have rules about behavior, some more strict than others. I don’t think MLB has rules though.
Players disrespecting the anthem (intentionally or not) have in the past been called out by other players and management.
Baseball players perform alone compared to the NFL, and are easier targets for those unhappy with them.
I AM NOT a Dodgers fan, but hats off to them. Great season.
Of course I got rid of cable this year.
The 1906 Cubs were led by first baseman player/manager Frank Chance and pitcher Mordecai “Three Finger” Brown. That team was so good and so far ahead of the competition that some players took time off near the end of the season. Most players back then had farms, or second jobs to attend.
They got just soft enough to lose to the White Sox in their only City World Series, but came roaring back to thrash Ty Cobb’s Tigers in 1907.
Frank Chance was possibly the greatest Cub ever. He was a solid player and a tough manager who got a team of egos to play together as a precision machine. Some of his teammates hated each other and would not even talk off the field.
Frank Chance should have a statue at Wrigley, but of course back then they played at West Side Grounds.
I guess saying “break a leg” for good luck doesn’t exactly fit this situation. Here in Georgia I have watched bits and pieces of less than 5 games in 4K quality via Directv, but no Dodger games.
This years Dodger squad is as good as the GREAT ‘53 Dodgers team, (even tho they got beat by Billy M. and the Bombers in the Series that October), team in my opinion. Should be a good post season this year.
Puig - 2-run, walk-off double. 51games over .500
Probably a couple thousand off his chin.
Alright, now that’s just wrong at so many levels.
A half-assed clown appreciates the notice, any notice!
