The main difference between Antifa/BLM and Weimar Communists is that von Hindenburg wasn’t actively encouraging the Communists, he and his government were just ineffective at suppressing them. In contrast, we had a President who for 8 years actively encouraged Antifa/BLM as a de facto paramilitary wing of his government.

It was formed in Germany in the 30s, not the 80s. They were Communists, had black uniforms and the same flag they do now, and were given to street battles with the “Fascists,” real or imagined. Weimar couldn’t control them, and their insane violence led directly to the willingness of people to vote for somebody like Hitler, since he at least looked as if he promised stability. People will overlook at lot for stability and security.
