Hey Ray, no offense but that's the most ignorant statement/comment I've read in 24 hours. No offense to you personally.☺ There are many videos which exist of this, even drone video over the scene. I've seen it Ray, hours of video. OK?
The vehicle was being attacked by thrown objects before it ever went into the crowd. Some of those right side protesters and others involved were pinned in parking lots against their cars by violent mobs before they could leave. The video is out there. I've seen it.
And as soon after the suspect vehicle came to a stop before reversing, it was immediately attacked by individuals with bats and clubs. In a blink of an eye.
And your ask, "What was he scared of?"

You don’t think the possibility exists that if the car was stopped by the thugs they could break a window and pull him out and beat him or worse? I think it is pretty likely. It has happened, to Reginald Denny- we all saw it on TV. Denny barely survived.
The same groups that were blocking the street have assaulted people that do not agree with them. Assaulted people with deadly weapons like a bicycle lock. They always seem to have weapons of some sort at their riots.
I have been expecting those groups to pull people from cars and beat them. If I encounter a group like that blocking me from getting through I would keep going. I would try my best to not hit anyone but I truly would not stop.
I do not know enough to truly know if the man was trying to run over them, I would never support that. If he was trying to drive out of the area and they blocked him while acting aggressive, he very well may have panicked.
Oh, Gee, I dunno. Maybe 500 antifa thugs with weapons? No, that can’t be it. Maybe getting home late for supper? No, that can’t be it. Maybe he had to pee.
