FOX News reporter Doug McKelway attended the violent protests Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia.
McKelway told FOX News viewers the police pulled out of Lee Park after the violence started. The police told him, “We’re leaving. It’s too dangerous.”
Doug McKelway: We are now beginning to hear criticism bubble up on all sides of this event about the initial slow response by the police. When I got out of my car yesterday in Charlottesville about 10:30 in the morning you knew this was a bad scene and bad things were going to be happening because people were congregating at Lee Park and Emancipation Park wearing helmets, body armor, carrying big heavy sticks. Nobody was intent on peace here from either side. People were intent on causing havoc and causing damage. And even as wounded were being brought out of the park police were sitting idly by. I was standing off a cordoned off area where the police had set up as a staging area, the state police, and they said you can come in here this is a safe area. But when the tear gas started to fly, thrown by protesters, the police themselves began to evacuate then. I asked the guy who was in charge, “Where you going?” He said, “We’re leaving. It’s too dangerous.” They had a chance to nip this thing in the bud and they chose not to.

Berkeley cops said, "Hey EVERYONE who enters the park for protesting has to give up their mace, or whatever, ANYTHING that could be construed as any type of weapon, including sign poles, and consent to manual pat-down prior to entry..!!!"
And almost everybody who was INVITED did that --they gave up all their stuff.
And it was so weird cuz all the AntiFa were standing around the protest park periphery. Then they sling-shot in M-80's and in response "FOR SAFETY..!!" the cops CLOSE THE PARK..!
Bingo, two groups that loathe each-other, and ONE of them was totally disarmed..!!
So the cops should have mutinied against orders?
This thing was staged. Both sides with the same Tiki torches and the same store-bought signs.

Sorry but I don't see where you get to be a Nazi and also a patriotic American. I mean we literally fought a war to decide that. By the same token I don't see where you get to be a racial supremacist and be a patriotic American. That goes against everything I believe is right. Likewise I don't see where you get to be a left wing fascist and be a patriotic America. That flies in the face of everything the Constitution stands for. You can choose to be on one side or the other. I can't stomach either one.
That Berkeley mayor and the chief of police have connections to Antifa and BAMN. The same is true for San Jose and Oakland. I really hope Sessions has investigators hot on their heels.

In a sense the police were put in the non win situation

If the Police have NO confidence in their Mayor/City Council/Dept Heads etc then why get your head bashed in when you will eventually end up getting blamed if you use force to quell things.
THAT Said, quit drawing the paycheck if you are not willing or able to DO YOUR JOB, which sadly enough, includes protecting the citizenry from itself at time.
