This man needs to be fired now.
That has to be one of the most absurd statements I have every heard and any military officer making such needs to go look for job in the fast food industry.
The difference power between the US and North Korea is stark, yes, but the ability to project it limited.
Add to that stupid ideas like ‘nation building,’ idiotic ideas about rules of engagement, the fact that we still have a lot of Obama leftovers in the military, and that our enemy shares a border with PRC from wish all sorts of nasty surprises may come, and you will see just how stupid that statement is.
I really don’t want to commit this country and our service members to another fruitless, trillion dollar war.

Maybe someone already responded- but you did read the part where “it would take 15 minutes”?

Truly an expensive quarter hour, but much better millions of North Koreans than US, S Korean Japanese or other millions. I pity the millions of NORKS who would bekilled/maimed and displaced while there foolish and insane leadership runs them through the gauntlet of nuclear defense strikes... The winds blow east ward over the N Pacific/Arctic, so well delivered air bursting nukes would be rather mundane for the rest of the world- fallout would be minimal.

We are not actively seeking to bother DPRK, so why have they been/are swearing to toss random nukes into our countryside?

Liberty, even in our distressed condition, is a threat to totalitarianism everywhere....

I agree. What the US COULD do and what it WILL do may be two entirely different things. If FatBoy made a non-nuclear strike on Seoul we would not respond with a nuclear annihilation of North Korea. We would find ourselves very quickly in a long drawn-out ground war similar to 1950. Anyone who thinks China would not back NK militarily is dreaming.

“This man needs to be fired now.”

Which man is that?

Why are you against just saying the unspoken obvious? Yes we could wipe the NORKs off the face of the earth, in probably 15 minutes, turning it into a self lighting glass bottomed parking lot.
It needs to be said and Jong Un needs to hear it. Being too polite and proper can be seen as weakness, and those in the past like Truman, Reagan, JFK have done the same with good effect.

Neville Chamberlain, on the other hand, made things worse by appeasing evil, and Kim Jong Un is Hitler, about to get a thermonuclear ICBM. We need to be speaking the truth, loud and clear, and stating our capabilities is appropriate at some point.
