US could wipe out North Korea in 15 minutes, says Gen. Tom McInerney

FOX NEWS - Retired Gen. Tom McInerney on Monday said the United States has the capability to take out every city in North Korea, if Kim Jong Un were to fire artillery into Seoul, South Korea.

“If he gets our full nuclear retaliatory capability, within minutes after one round going into Seoul, there will be nothing left,” McInerney told Liz Claman on “Countdown to the Closing Bell.” “If you go to Airborne Alert—we used to call it “Chrome Dome”—with nuclear weapons and then we start building up our other forces, et cetera, he will not last 15 minutes.”

The Hermit Kingdom announced Monday it will take “thousands-fold” revenge against the United States after the United Nations imposed new sanctions on the communist country on Saturday. The resolution, approved unanimously by the Security Council on Saturday, comes as a result of Pyongyang’s repeated ballistic missile tests and efforts to develop a nuclear warhead. The sanctions are aimed at the country’s economy, including stopping the expansions of joint ventures and the exports of coal, lead, lead ore, iron, iron ore and seafood.....

“He conducted more amphibious assaults than any other general in history, every one a success”.

He relied on two field army commanders, Generals Kruger and Eicheberger to conduct those. MacArthur was a publicity hound and never gave the proper recognition to his Corps and Field Army commanders.

If North Korea starts firing artillery into South Korea it would be devastating in Seoul unless we went nuclear very very quickly. We can take them out. It would not be pretty but much better than a million or millions dead in Seoul.

Cruise missiles from the sea are mere minutes from those artillery positions. Those missiles with conventional weapons would be somewhat ineffective. They can also be armed with thermonuclear weapons. That can a will take out that artillery if needed. The first one will take out Kim, and if the artillery does not cease nuclear will follow in minutes.

That is just the way it may be.

However China can bring this all to a stop if motivated. China and the United States though adversaries are also integrally economically linked. If this linkage is destroyed their economy will crash and burn, perhaps ours also. It is in China’s interests to also take that little bastard out if we have a president with the balls to use our economic might and if necessary our military and nuclear might.

Trump has the balls to do it!

North Korea might be able to hurt us and this is doubtful in a nuclear exchange today. In a few short years they will most definitely be able to hurt us very badly. China can hurt woefully but not destroy us. Russia can destroy us. We can destroy all of them. We nor they want to play that game. They will not risk their nations for North Korea.

Trump has the balls.

If your lucky you get one good PRESIDENT in your life time....

We may have gotten really lucky with two

But we got George Bush number one and he undid all of Reagans work..

Let’s hope we get two in a row

How the country has made it this far I do not know

As for wars ...the last one we won was WWII

I hate to say it, but Douglas MacArthur was right. We should have wiped out this regime when we had the chance.

Yup. And somehow Truman is made out to be the hero for standing up to him.

Russia exploded their first atomic bomb in 1949 and this was not a deliverable weapon. During the Korean War they did have the ability to deliver a very limited amount of nuclear weapons on the United States. We would have probably stopped most if not all their limited nuclear bombers.

Truman thou a great president in war set the table for decades including the present for strife, grief and death and I assure Vietnam. If at his grave side I would not know what to do. Should I bow down and praise him or stand and curse him? I think I would bow down and ask God to forgive him for his errors as he was a patriot but a fool as was Lyndon Johnson.

I think this is why God gave us purgatory. Perhaps eternity in purgatory is worse than hell.

Truman was a great president at the end of WWII. Some would say he was a pussy in the Korean War. I will give him the benefit of doubt and just call him an idiot. At this time our nuclear supremacy was total. We did not need to fight nor lose the life of one additional soldier. We could have simply said these are our terms and you will accept these terms or you will die. To this day I do not understand that a man that ordered atomic bombs dropped on Japan did not have the strength to threaten the same in Korea. Our enemies did not have this strength and the Soviet Union did possess a few atomics our supply was almost endless. They were no thereat at this time least they decide to die.

Why are you against just saying the unspoken obvious? Yes we could wipe the NORKs off the face of the earth, in probably 15 minutes, turning it into a self lighting glass bottomed parking lot.
It needs to be said and Jong Un needs to hear it. Being too polite and proper can be seen as weakness, and those in the past like Truman, Reagan, JFK have done the same with good effect.

Neville Chamberlain, on the other hand, made things worse by appeasing evil, and Kim Jong Un is Hitler, about to get a thermonuclear ICBM. We need to be speaking the truth, loud and clear, and stating our capabilities is appropriate at some point.

Neutron Bomb them

Besides the idea behind neutron bombs was to increase the radiation without increasing the blast. Using those would make the situation worse.

And even yet Reagan didn’t do anything notable except champion SDI (the likeliest answer to a NK threat) and Trump would have no new casus belli if the Kim family had simply stuck to making NK miserable.

the US and Russia used to test gigantic hydrogen bombs above ground, and the fallout never bothered anything...all alot of hype.

Eh...not so sure about that. There were a lot of residents in southern Utah that succumbed, or were severely affected by downwind fallout from testing in the Nevada desert. This was many years ago, but under the right atmospheric conditions, it doesn't all dissipate into harmless particles.

“have burned up on re-entry, they don’t have adequate heat shields, yet.”

You’re really not -that- gullible are you? SK and Japan routinely attempt to recover NK missile parts to analyze NK’s technology.

The NKs don’t use heat shielding because they don’t want the warheads (and their guidance system) surviving re-entry to be collected by SK and the Japanese.

“We have perfected solid fuel boosters capable of ICBM delivery. NK is far and away from that technology.”

NK has tested several solid fuel SLBMs since 2016.

FIRST, We take out their satellites. (ASM-135 ASAT missile)
Second, we zap them with EMP Cruise Missiles, radar jamming and chaff. (Counter-electronics High-powered Microwave Advanced Missile Project (CHAMP) )
Then here comes it ICBMs.
Then the all out strike begins. Kim Jong-un gets a MOAB suppository.
Then we launch every aircraft in the region that’s supersonic, including South Korea’s fighters and bombers, to cross into North Korea from all directions, to overfly low level at Mach One PLUS, to bust every piece of glass in North Korea.
Then we firebombs the place to ashes.
The only real transportation system North Korea has is the railroads, so they get blown to smithereens.
And that’s just the start of day one.
______________________________________________________

Gosh...sounds good on paper. But no war nor battle was ever won on paper. After the first shot the whole game changes dramatically. No country is going to just stand there and take whatever you want to do to them. Unless he’s a total idiot, Kim will be no where near where that MOAB lands, and they are known to have enormous underground complexes. What are you going to do about them?

The biggest game changer of all is the fact that China and Russia have alliances and commitments to NK which they may well decide to honor when “we firebombs the place to ashes”, and “KILL ANYTHING LEFT ALIVE NORTH OF THE DMZ !” And when the second strike hits, how are you going to deal with the hundreds of thousands of NK and Chinese ground troops sweeping through SK?

I wouldn’t count on a quick clean victory. Asians are a thoughtful and patient people. I’m sure NK has a plan, another plan, and a couple dozen more in case those don’t work. Any military conflict is going to be a complete FUBAR.

Why would North Korea risk a war knowing the end result would be total annihilation?

There’s a lot of moving parts here.

China doesn’t want nuclear fallout on its border.
China doesn’t several million radidated, starving refugees storming its border.

At the same time, China doesn’t want a unified, Western Korea on its border.

Maybe I don’t understand how EMPs work (or even if they work), but I always thought they were triggered by nuclear explosions in the upper atmosphere.

Wouldn’t we shut down South Korea, Japan, China and Russia if we did that?

You can’t aim an EMP at like, a ten square mile area.

The fail safe for NK has always been pretty simple: A massive artillery bombardment of Seoul and its suburbs followed by a million ground troops sweeping through the DMZ and just wiping out all resistance by sheer numbers.

They could never withstand a US/SK counter-attack, but at that point, they could offer a “peaceful withdrawal” to the border or, you know, a cataclysmic final stand on SK territory.

We also don’t know what North Korea has hidden in South Korea in terms of assassins, saboteurs, special forces, etc. This is a regime that will flat out murder a dude in plain site in an international airport.

North Korea’s plan is always mass murder and chaos until China can save their butts in some way.

I no knowledge of the top secret details of EMP in a tactical application. EMP does not need a nuclear detonation to be generated. A device called a flux compression generator bomb (FCGs) is set off with high explosives. It can be mounted to cruise missiles and can destroy ground targets in a concentrated area. For a lethal pulse that would fry everything electronic,

For a great tutorial in EMP, go here:

http://science.howstuffworks.com/e-bomb.htm

Read especially page 5. It supports what I am thinking as the best application of EMP for North Korea. I am sure President Trump has a pragmatic appreciation for technology. I have to be careful here, because “Loose lips sink ships.”
