North Korea has successfully produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit inside its missiles, crossing a key threshold on the path to becoming a full-fledged nuclear power, U.S. intelligence officials have concluded in a confidential assessment.
The new analysis completed last month by the Defense Intelligence Agency comes on the heels of another intelligence assessment that sharply raises the official estimate for the total number of bombs in the communist countrys atomic arsenal. The U.S. calculated last month that up to 60 nuclear weapons are now controlled by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Some independent experts believe the number of bombs is much smaller.
The findings are likely to deepen concerns about an evolving North Korean military threat that appears to be advancing far more rapidly than many experts had predicted. U.S. officials last month concluded that Pyongyang is also outpacing expectations in its effort to build an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of striking cities on the American mainland.

None of the countries you mention are threatening the US. They are not talking about incinerating an American city, or killing all infidels.
Norklandia and Iran are vocal with their intentions. We should take them at their word.
China isn’t threatening the US? Cmon.
The MSM has a lengthy history regurgitating the same vomit—puked up from each other. Why would anyone trust anything they “vomit”?
This is the end result of the same wisdom in legalizing pot applied to international politics.
“It’s too much trouble to keep XYZ contained from every looney-tune who wants it, so we’re just going to tuck our tails in our tuchus and run and hide under the bed.”
60? I’m thinking more like 0.6
You can’t trust the Washington Post.
I saw that after I posted, but editing isn’t an option. Entered second grade in 1948.....
I’m sure there will be some drama on the high seas with shipping between the two as these sanctions are ramped up.
Because the alternatives are worse and will only escalate in that direction if the world stands by and watches NK develop systems that can hit anywhere on the planet all while developing more defensive capabilities.
There is no choice from my perspective.
...or orbit a nuke on a satellite. Who knows.
I agree. It’s the State Controlled Media. But some things are not fake news. Most will definitely try to put the blame for this on DJT, while Clinton and Obama party and laugh.
No new leaks from the WH, no Russian are coming, no email, but NK has nukes...whatever
Among other notable people, Albert Einstein, the epic genius had difficulty spelling, as did Agatha Christie etc, etc.
I’m old enough to remember when people said the same thing about the Russians and the Chinese...
GW Bush is at least as responsible as Clinton.
But its Obama that allowed the program to mature and weaponize.
That ^^
I was just about to post, “Thanks 0zero!”
“Also, it seems quite likely that The NORKs will wreck South Korea before the NORKs can be effectively extinguished.”
I’m pretty sure that the Norks won’t even get off a shot. We should be able to hit every command and control, every missile, and all 14,000 of their artillery pieces in the opening salvo. We have the ability it’s more a matter of deciding to do it.
We have B2s that carry massive GBU 57 bombs. The Norks can’t see them. We have subs loaded with Tomahawks sitting off their coast. The Norks can’t see them. When their radar C&C is gone then anything and everything we have can fly over them at will and make the rubble bounce. It won’t be a fair fight.
I’m sure we would prefer to have a coup or some other solution but the longer you wait the more certain it is that the Norks will have operational nuclear weapons.
I may be overly paranoid but I agree with you. This “leak” by an “intelligence official” smells almost as bad as that “leaked” global warming climate change report b.s. that came out today. A fake report pushing DJT into a preemptive strike that results in the death of a bunch of U.S. serviceman and South Korean citizens could be Trump’s version of “WMD’s in Iraq” and a sure way to sink his presidency. I trust nothing that comes from the swamp dwellers. This is just waaay too convenient.
Russia isn’t interested in defending the Norks. If China doesn’t want a Greater South Korea sitting across them at the Yalu they need to work with us.
” Next up should be Iran once McMaster is fired or sent packing to Afghanistan.”
Let me guess- you never heard of McMaster before he was appointed NSA.
A fair amount of intelligence and planning would be required to have a high confidence of accomplishing that.
I’d hope that we are there, but after Clintoon and 0bama, along with Trump not having cleared the IC and Pentagon portions of the Swamp I’m not so sure....
is
swamp
i’d hope tha we are there
