Okay, US can play ball too. First, restrict all US government from doing business in Californiano conferences, no new business. Maybe begin moving out government operations. End federal funding of sanctuary cities, counties, and states, such as California. Bet they change their tune really quick. California would die without the federal government and its tax money, its operations. The US may play table tennis or a friendly game of golf, but it doesn't do hardball. If this gets serious we will not only let them go, we will pay all the bills, like enabling parents acquiescing to the demands of a teenager who requires independence but needs help with the rent, the car payments, the insurance, the tuition, the textbooks, the taxes, the interior decor, and of course the abortionist. Uncle Sam will cover all that because Auntie Sam will insist on it. There's some sort of "human right" to be spared consequences.

The harsh reality....
Will never happen because the Dems cant lose CAs 55 electoral votes.

And a question: With the size of the public debt load CA is carrying, is that an economy...or a Ponzi scheme?

CA have been stupid about energy for years and years. Classic liberal, socialist stupidity.
Not unlike Venezuela that destroyed the private sector because of stupidity, CA would follow a similar pattern except that the valuable resources that they have to offer, high tech, are mobile and can be moved to other states.

A very good point.

Silly question considering that start-up investments are generally made for the purposes of return on investment and not national conquest. Canada and the United States have massive trade and investment flow back and forth but are clearly separate countries. Ditto for China and Korea, Japan and Taiwan, etc.

There are over 100 military installations in CA. The state has great strategic importance to the nation. These CalExit people are certifiable.

You nail it there, actually. That’s EXACTLY how Calif must then be viewed, as a staging area.

An independent California nation would look something like a cross between pre-republic California and current Venezuela.
More likely would be a California undergoing federal “Reconstruction” to qualify for re-admittance to the union.
Neither is likely. Calexit is just normal bloviating from the usual fruits and nuts of the left coast.

Unfortunately, c/exit's only cash crop is marijuana, so the competition from the other 49 states will have a material impact on the value.
The San Francisco Santa Clara 49s will be trying to learn soccer.

What about the military bases? Will the military withdraw to Oregon and Washington? Who will pay for all that prime real estate?
If they are adjacent to another state or the Pacific Ocean, we can keep them, like Guantanamo. We'll wand those to keep a major power that might actually spend money on military from taking over the joint.

CA better just pray that if, God forbid, The Big One hits, it hits while Trump is president. Unless they want someone like the Toons doing for CA what the Toons did for Haiti...
