The late ‘70s were a lousy time for TV. Shows like ‘Maude’ ‘Mary Hartman’ and other laugh track driven, negative, liberal BS that Lear specialized in. He’s a real ****.
I was about 10. I remember my father cursing in Italian at the TV when M.A.S.H or All in the Family etc. came on.
They never stayed on long :)
There is cable channel re-running “Maude”. Tried to watch it after not seeing it since it was on. It was terrible, the only thing worth watching was Adrian Barbeau’s breasts.
Bea Arthur strikes me as woman who was never happy and was the epitome of the Bitter Angry New Yorker who hated everybody and was in real life a really Left Leaning Jackass.
From what I read she never liked or got along with any of her cast mates, especially those on “The Golden Girls”.
No amount of Booze would have made her look more attractive at a 3AM closing at the local bar.
