Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said Republican candidates with their eyes on a White House run may be seriously considering the prospect of challenging President Donald Trump in 2020 because they "see weakness," The Hill reported Saturday.
"They see weakness in this president," McCain told The New York Times. "Look, it's not a nice business we're in."
The Times reported Saturday that Republican Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and Ben Sasse of Nebraska, GOP Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and even Vice President Mike Pence could be laying the groundwork for a White House run in 2020.
McCain hasn't been shy about criticizing the president and has broken ranks with Trump as well as fellow Republicans on key issues. Most recently, he voted against the Senate GOP's "skinny" Obamacare repeal bill and on Thursday lambasted the president over his handling of the war in Afghanistan.

No federal official can be recalled: it’s not in the Constitution.
Now a state like WI can hold a “recall election” for a congressman, but it is meaningless.
He must be thinking of another Pete McCloskey presidential campaign for 2020.
