The Senate unanimously agreed to block President Trump from making appointments during their August break amid concerns that he’ll replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions during the recess.

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who Trump blasted on Twitter after she voted against the party on health care last month, locked in nine “pro forma” sessions over the next four weeks, The Hill reported.

Time for Trump to start a new political party for 2018? I wonder if this has ever been done from the White House.

They won’t listen to us. The only “feedback” they will understand is to vote against them and/or support their opponents any way you can.

That’s pretty much it. Their personal political destruction must be our goal. Starting with Flake the Fake. If it takes a 3rd party vote and a Dem taking his seat to take him out so be it. We can not allow a GOP to willfully obstruct our POTUS. It’s that simple.

"Unanimous vote"

I sure hope it was a roll call vote. We need to be able to identify the bad guys. ;>)

The eGOP is dead to me. Well, they have been since before the election when they tried to get Hillary elected.

Not time for that, yet. But it is time for a direct threat that Trumpism is going to dog them their entire beltway career. They think they can wait him out and go back to business as usual. Not going to happen.

It’s amazing that the Republicans seem to be doing more to block Trump’s agenda (read: our agenda) than they did Obama’s. So it’s come down to the People and the President against the ruling class.

Truthfully, in the long term, this is a good thing. That is, the office of the POTUS is way too powerful, having taken on a lot of powers reserved for congress and the judiciary. So there needs to be a measured return of these powers.

And just because we like the POTUS, it is still the right thing to do. And actually, far more likely to be done with a good POTUS than a bad one.

Here is a good list of changes that need to be made to the power of the POTUS:

1) End the Executive Signing Statement. This is such a very unconstitutional thing that congress needs to outlaw it, and the POTUS needs to challenge it in front of the SCOTUS, in such a way that it is buried in a steel coffin under a lot of concrete.

2) Congress needs to make very strict rules about recess appointments.

3) Presidential proclamations (land grabs), executive orders that are utterly nuts (strict rules), executive memoranda (like the one by outgoing Eisenhower that created the NSA), and very strict and clear rules about executive privilege.

4) Congress needs to clarify and strengthen the War Powers Act, the Posse Comitatus Act, presidential pardons and other lenience, and presidential records.

5) Clarify and strengthen the laws against improper use of FBI files, raw and confirmed, as well as strictly limiting who in the government can order or carry out wiretapping or other surveillance activities.

6) An entirely new law for the prosecution of government employees who use their office to carry out corrupt activities, like Lois Lerner.

7) When executive branch agencies friendly to agitator groups are sued by them, with intent that they only minimally fight the suit, congress should direct the courts to give standing in the suit to other organizations protesting the “sweetheart deal”.

The entire Congress plus every civil servant is the SWAMP. These federal gov employees have had to much power for to damn long. Try to fire a GS13-15. You cannot. The VA is the Fed Gov in action. I recall a GS 13 at Ft. Benning, GA in the DNRI ( Dept. of Non Resident Instruction). The boss was an O-6 and O-4 ( Major) ran things. I was there only 60 days waiting on the IOAC class to start. We were responsible for all Infantry FM’s plus extension course tests for Reserves etc. The GS-13 had been a SSG in the GA NG. He knew zip. He was a ghost. He had no idea of current doctrine/infantry training.

No one likes the thought of a Dem taking a seat but would we really notice much of a difference? The Dems still run the show even when they are theoretically out of power. The Pubs are just one side of the same coin.

We really need a new party that represents conservatives. Right now, there isn’t one.

They did this with GW Bush and Obama.

Yes, but that was with the party in opposition. The dem-led senate did it to Bush, and the GOP-led senate did it to Obama.

Now Trump is a Republican president and the senate is led by the Republicans...

This REALLY stinks. My two GOP senators have lost my vote FOREVER.

If I wanted my senators to go after a Republican president, I would have voted democrat. Maybe I will over the two scoundrels we have now.

If they don’t officially go into recess, he can’t make recess appointments. That is what the Senate did. It’s in the article.
