There were nearly 5,000 weapons stacked high on rows of tables and jutting out of barrels inside the Newark Police Communication Center, where state and federal authorities announced the results of New Jersey’s largest gun buyback in state history.
The amnesty program held at churches in Newark, Trenton and Camden allowed residents to carry in firearms no-questions-asked.
Here’s what they brought.
“Assault weapons” is a loaded term, but authorities say the buybacks brought in 129 semi-automatic and automatic weapons, some of which were illegal in New Jersey.
“Many of those weapons are designed to pierce body armor, and getting just one of them off the street is a tremendous value,” state Attorney General Christopher Porrino said.

From the pics it looks like a bunch of crappy azz guns nobody wanted. If I had a gun nobody would buy I’d take it to the buy back and get a couple of hundred bucks myself.
I had one around the same time also, wish they would reproduce those again, bet they would be a hit.

Lol. Guns aren’t designed to pierce body armor. Ammo is. What a fool.
I doubt it will pierce the kevler, but it will probably penetrate the body and drag it inside with it!
It’ll be even rarer once they melt it down.
Most of the murder victims in New Jersey are themselves criminals. They're scumbags. They hang with the wrong crowds, engage in the wrong pastimes and piss off the wrong people. Their killers will likely meet the same fate down the road.
New Jersey has very little interest or incentive in trying to figure out who killed them.
The people who take the most advantage of these buybacks are gun store and pawnshop owners who use these buybacks get rid of barrels full of rusted junk.
Bet that is on a police report somewhere as stolen. If so it already belongs to someone else and not this buy back.
Which raises another question, How many of these should legally be returned to the rightful lawful owners because they were stolen? Melting these down instead of making an effort to return them to the rightful owners is an outright legitimate criminal act.
Looks like a bunch of people unloaded a bunch of junk guns for folding money.
When one realizes that they and elected officials consider themselves "the public", it all makes sense.
According to “them”, there are no “rightful” owners and ALL of those evil guns should be melted down just as the u.n. would like.

They tested Penetration of “Bullet Proof” vests using various calibers and weapons.
The MOST EFFECTIVE was the 12 gauge slug travelling at 1200fps. It penetrated all of them. Even the high-test stuff warn by soldiers with ceramic plates.
Heavy matters. A lot.
I understand their premise, But it’s not at all legal...
They can’t just make up laws as they like. They are already bound by very clear existing laws with this. In fact the law states it’s their DUTY to try and return these.
Why isn’t this being pointed out by the NRA or other groups?
I’m probably more deserving of a kick in the pants!
