Justice Dept. to Take On Affirmative Action in College Admissions
WASHINGTON The Trump administration is preparing to redirect resources of the Justice Departments civil rights division toward investigating and suing universities over affirmative action admissions policies deemed to discriminate against white applicants, according to a document obtained by The New York Times.
The document, an internal announcement to the civil rights division, seeks current lawyers interested in working for a new project on investigations and possible litigation related to intentional race-based discrimination in college and university admissions.

Bingo.
Be a pseudo transgender too.
I had a black neurosurgeon, a very good doctor. When my mother found out a black doctor was going to perform my surgery, she asked me if “those people” could do that kind of surgery. I just said I’m pretty sure they could, that we’ll find out. Lol, she had some black friends and everything, so I was surprised at her question.
I had a black neurosurgeon do surgery on me one time, he was great.
Why is that silly?
My Cherokee grandma used to claim to be Hispanic, not to get into university, but to be served in bars.
I have a few black cousins with the same last name (long story).
When I applied for jobs out of college, I was interviewed by one company who did some research, saw my last name, and assumed that since my cousin was black and a lawyer I was black.
Made for a VERY awkward discussion by with the HR manager. I didn’t list race on the application, and they had made an assumption because my last name isn’t common.
That was something I didn’t know until recently. Many Indian tribes had rules that they could not be served alcohol, and since they were duel citizens had it stamped on the license.
Didn’t see it to much where I grew up, but I remember the “special” licenses.
Yes, my dad said he was refused service too. Some of his uncles were bootleggers though, so I guess they could drink at home, LOL. My grandmother even took on a Latin name to avoid discrimination.
My mother was part Jewish. Her family had become Seventh Day Adventist as a lot of them did, because at least they observed the Sabbath. Anyway, when I was an adult I had bough a star of David necklace. She saw me with it on one time and was horrified, telling me I shouldn’t let anyone know I was Jewish. Things may have changed for the Cherokee but maybe not so much for the Jews.
This year the push was to give all muslims a pass to get in over asians and whites...DUKE University did it in spades...without any justification. I have the proof!
AKA *firewater*. She sounds like someone I would have liked.

Interesting story.
*Fake ethnicity* ...so you’re the one who started it! :)
Good, there are way too many people in college as it is.
See attrition rates as proof.
LOL. One time she was in a hospital and was walking in the gown that wasn’t properly tied up, her doctor called her “Running Bare” and he even made her prescriptions out for that name. I saw it on her pill bottles so got the story. The good old days.
LOL. Wasn’t my goal. Didn’t even think about it. My cousin was always my cousin (we have a bunch in Northern California). He and his Mom thought it was pretty funny.
When we were kids, there was a family reunion in Missouri that had that small town really confused. When you have a family made of the whitest rednecks in the MidWest and a group of professional looking black people calling each other “cousins”, it is going to raise eyebrows.
I love it. Your gram sounds like the stage I find myself in; you get to an age, where you don’t care what someone else thinks/says. Really.
There’s nothing left to lose.
There’s a great deal of freedom in that. :)
God Bless her soul and your wonderful memories of her.
Great stuff. Tongues must still be wagging back in Missouri.
The DNA companies should give your family a free group package to figure out your salt & pepper heritage.
Because it's going after"politically correct" silliness instead of the long list of REAL CRIMES committed by the previous administration.
The DOJ is focused on this so they do NOT have to go after political individuals inside the beltway who are obviously political "insiders." who committed REAL CRIMES.. people such as Hillary Clinton, Debbie Wassermann-Schultz, James Comey-FBI, Lois Lerner-IRS, Benghazi, VA Scandal, etc, etc.
Well, we know most of it.
Great uncle had a son, who married a very smart black woman. They had seven kids, four sons and three girls.
By now, they have 20 something kids between the group.
The Dubya admin. filled a brief in favor of anti-white racial discrimination when the issue came before the Supreme Court during his term. Yet most conservatives mindlessly worshipped Dubya.
It’s interesting. You seem to be taking it all in stride and with good humor.
OTOH, I wonder if your darker cousins have had any repercussions b/c of their brush with whiteness. I hope they haven’t.
