A top Environmental Protection Agency official resigned Tuesday in protest of the direction the EPA has taken under President Trump.
Elizabeth "Betsy" Southerland ended her 30-year run at the agency with a scathing exit letter in which she claimed that the environmental field is suffering from the temporary triumph of myth over truth. She last worked as the director of science and technology in the Office of Water.
The truth is there is NO war on coal, there is NO economic crisis caused by environmental protection, and climate change IS caused by mans activities, Southerland wrote, directly rejecting many of Trumps claims.
Southerland said that since EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt took over the agency, dozens of regulations designed to protect the environment had been repealed, and Trumps proposed budget cuts to the agency would devastate its ability to enforce existing protections and create new ones.
She took aim in particular at Trump's demand that two federal regulations be struck from the books for every new one added.

She is a typical ignorant fed worker...always entitled and always arrogant. Exile this cretin and cut her overly generous pension. Good riddance to this fool.
Yay. More of this please.
Yep, 30 years means a huge retirement package.
She just took advantage of her retirement to blast Trump.
Well, bye.
See ya, you Stalinist land and money grabber. BYE!
Good riddance. I hope many more resignations follow. A clean environment matters, but it cannot be tied to the politicized mission that EPA has taken upon itself.
BYE! Thank you for doing us all a favor by leaving...
Hastala Vister, adios, so long, bye bye baby......... and good riddance.
30 YEARS on the Government Teat. And she chooses NOW to leave? Something is afoot!
She was there for 30 Years? That means she got there right after the Manmade Globull Cooling Period.
Better replace them w/sensible people or close out the billet so they don’t come back later.
BTW, “Department of Water”, is that right below the “Ministry of Funny Walks”? Are there working toilets on their floor? Do they have fountains available or do employees recycle their perspiration like in Dune?
I’ll bet money she didn’t leave after 30 years without a pension...
She’s wrong on all three counts. Good riddance.
[Ill bet money she didnt leave after 30 years without a pension...]
Extremely heroic of her.
“....enforce existing protections and create new ones....”
With emphasis on “creating new ones” and “creating new ones” and “creating new ones”............
We will not miss bureaucrat Southerland!
“...and climate change IS caused by mans activities”
Prove it.
