Do not vaccinate: A growing, national anti-vaccination movement that claims the inoculations can cause autism in children has led Brooklyn pet-owners to withhold vaccines against deadly and spreadable diseases from their critters, according to local veterinarians.

Oh joy, their whelps spreading whooping cough and all the other wiped out diseases wasn’t enough. Now the morons are going to have their curs spreading rabies.
Don’t immediately assume ignorance on the part of those who take issue with modern vaccination requirements. Combo vaccines do cause problems and a lot of animals are over-vaccinated. I’ve been known to titer test my elderly dogs to prove immunity and avoid a required vaccination because it really knocks them for a loop, particularly their immune system.
My word...
We really are getting stupider every single day...
Just wait until their beloved fifi gets parvo and needs to get put down...
Vaccinations increase the chances that dogs and cats get chronic health conditions. The healthiest pets are unvaccinated and eat natural food, no kibbles or grocery store crap.
Fine; let them all get bit by rabid dogs, cats, raccoons, rats, etc.
When they are all dieing of RABIES I don’t want to hear any complaints.

You’re a veterinarian?
Thirmerosal was an ingredient in the rabies vaccine that was administered to my INDOOR cat against my wishes. (State law in soviet Red Hampshire...rot in hell.) He died from ‘cancer’. I will never forgive those bastards.
My sister is a Vet. Your full of cr**
Quarantine the entire area and any unvacinated household?
Well then, ask your sister about why so many pet owners have their elderly dogs titer tested to prove immunity rather than subjecting them to a vaccination. It’s well-known that vaccination stresses the immune system of even healthy animals. That doesn’t make vaccination bad per se, but it does throw into question the modern practice of creating combination vaccines as well as vaccination more frequently than is necessary to maintain immunity to a given disease.
My wife is a veterinarian, both US Army and civilian, one of her biggest complaints is people bringing in animals sick from preventable conditions wherein the only choice left is putting them down.
Isn’t there a shot for Parvo? I would think people would want their pups vaccinated for that, parvo can kill..If there was a vaccination that could cure Trachea Collapse I would have gotten it for our pup(A Pomeranian) because of this horrible condition he eventually got pulmonary hypertension and still coughs so its a double death sentence
All I can say is most of my life only dogs got shots. They got their puppy shots and then they got just one rabies shot later. There was no such thing as “booster” shots. And I don’t remember dogs or cats ever getting sick much at all.
Tell you what though, We just went through a vet experience I would want to put anyone through. Crooked greedy money hungry vet set us up and ran us through the wringer on purpose. So they are in fact out there.
“Well then, ask your sister about why so many pet owners have their elderly dogs titer tested to prove immunity rather than subjecting them to a vaccination”
Oh yeah, right. ONE disease in dogs that only have a few years left. Like that proves a point.
“Its well-known that vaccination stresses the immune system of even healthy animals.”
DUH! That is the WHOLE POINT OF VACCINATION! If it did not stress them it would not provide immunity.
“as well as vaccination more frequently than is necessary to maintain immunity to a given disease.”
DUH!!! You can’t do it LESS than is necessary to maintain immunity. And there is no hard and fast line where you are CERTAIN it gives 100% coverage... So clearly you have no choice but to err on the side of “more frequently”.
Those idiot Yankees might breed. That would be worse.
There are good veterinarians and there are hacks, just as in any profession. Watch how he or she interacts with your dog and if it’s not good then leave, go find a good one who gives a damn and to whom your dog reacts positively, that’s the best suggestion I can make. Dogs are exceedingly good judges of character and that extends to veterinarians.
” There was no such thing as booster shots. And I dont remember dogs or cats ever getting sick much at all.”
Then science progressed and we figured out ways that are less stressful to them and gives more reliable coverage. Yeah, boosters.
What is the cause of the rise in human rabies in Brooklyn?
Dogs are being vaccinated excessively to the point of doing them harm in many instances and this is why people are becoming resistant to the entirely reasonable and beneficial practice of vaccination. If you can’t see the excess on one side of the equation due to being so completely hung up on advocating the other side, then maybe it doesn’t make sense to you, but there actually is a problem.
