this whole thing of a “wall” is just foolish. A wall is probably ineffective.

What is needed is a barrier like the Saudi’s erected on the border with Yemen and Syria and like the Indians have erected on the border with Pakistan. These things are all but impervious.

Old article but this thing is finished by now.

Obama promised his voters that he would close GITMO. He didn’t his first term and they still reelected.

Trump won’t be so fortunate, if he drops the wall construction, because it was a MAJOR cornerstone of his candidacy.

Of course, this report/rumor/story could likely be made up, since the media has little-to-no credibility anymore.

Illegal border crossings are down more than 75% - with no wall.

Put a few snipers on patrol and a wall may not be needed.

(The problem I have with walls is they keep people IN too. Depending on who is in charge, that could be an issue - and we very nearly had that kind of administration.)

No no no! Another administration can just stop funding for it or stop enforcing it. You can unfund an already built wall! A wall works no matter who is in charge. Build the Wall!!

Cr** article...

Please remember that in the past, a wall was a synonym for a fence.

This article simply says we're not talking about a solid concrete wall....well duh....look at the designs that were submitted.

Wall = Barrier

I believe this is just a rehash of an old article...inserting Kelly into the mix.

Uh huh. Trump is so inept that he needs his chief of staff to tell him what to do. Trump is so wishy-washy that he needs Kelly to advise him on policy. Yes sir. /Sarc

Only true if Trump plans on a single term only.

This is total BS. DHS just announced its waiving a bunch of environmental rules so the Trump wall prototypes can be constructed and tested.

Not concerned. Trump said during the campaign that there were places where a wall per wouldn’t be practical.

The Wall is a metaphor for border security, and DJT has support of border patrol officers.

many miles of fencing can effectively secure the U.S.-Mexico border.

Yes semantics will rule the day.

A double fence where the traffic is to shut it down or funnel it is all we need not some elaborate Wall of Trump with a beautiful door in it.

“New White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly believes he has convinced President Donald Trump to abandon his pledge to construct a large and lengthy wall along the border separating the United States and Mexico, according to The New Yorker.”

I’m glad Kelly is no longer involved with Homeland Security. He had already revealed he was wobbly on the Nightmarers issue. Now, if this report is true, it comes out that he doesn’t want to impede the invasion of the country by Mexicans and Central Americans.

The best thing Trump could do, short of firing him, is to tell Kelly not to say anything else to anyone about immigration issues since he is so ill-informed.

Anybody who thinks we are going to build a physical wall the entire length of the border isn’t living in reality....

We need lots of wall were it works and and the tech stuff where it works...

Those of us who understand the importance of limiting immigration to those who share our values--including our just pride in the rugged individualism and settler values of those who built the America of the Founding Fathers-- need to talk more about that cultural heritage, and the desire to preserve it down through the generations.

It is not enough--not nearly enough--to simply harp on the outrage of allowing millions into the States illegally; not nearly enough to simply react to a threat. We need to reinstate the positive pride in heritage and American continuity, which once was part of the social aura, when we were the envy of the world.

The stakes are the ultimate issue.
