North Koreas launch of a second intercontinental ballistic missile Fridaya missile some believe has the potential to reach U.S. citiesled to speculation that the U.S. would go to the U.N. to seek an emergency session and a resolution to put more pressure on the rogue state. CBS News reported Saturday that the U.S. was seeking an emergency session on Monday, but Haley shot down such reporting as mistaken.
There is no point in having an emergency session if it produces nothing of consequence, Haley said, before noting that North Korea is already the target of a number of Security Council resolutions which, she said, they violate with impunity.
*snip*
An additional Security Council resolution that does not significantly increase the international pressure on North Korea is of no value, she said. In fact, it is worse than nothing, because it sends the message to the North Korean dictator that the international community is unwilling to seriously challenge him.
Instead, she said the ball was now in Chinas court. China must decide whether it is finally willing to take this vital step. The time for talk is over, she said.
Haleys statement comes a day after President Trump took aim at China over its weak stance on North Korea, accusing the Chinese of being just talk:
I am very disappointed in China. Our foolish past leaders have allowed them to make hundreds of billions of dollars a year in trade, yet
Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 29, 2017they do NOTHING for us with North Korea, just talk. We will no longer allow this to continue. China could easily solve this problem!

Time to draw another line in the sand.
Time for us to be in the UN is over.
Mattis isn’t big on lines in the sand. Neither is Trump.
Time to turn the sand to glass.
If talk is over, what is next? While Obama had a history of drawing lines in the sand and then ignoring them, I don’t see Trump doing the same. Will Trump take direct action? What can he do that won’t immediately blow up as full-scale return to hostilities on the peninsula? Maybe sanction China? That’d be a win-win but will it force them to reign in or remove Kim and his nukes?
Think global act local?
Immediately stop all shipments from China? That would raise holy hell but I’d love to see it happen.
Walmart, amazon, ebay and most every retailer would scream bloody murder and there would be massive layoffs. Geez, talk about putting all our eggs in one cheaply made basket. Who’s bright idea was that? Oh yeah, the politicians due to pressure(bribes) from big biz.
Who’s got who by the gonads?
Agree, this is sort of final proof the UN is a failed social experiment. It’s time has passed.
Yes...times up...
“Time to draw another line in the sand.”
Time to kick sand and take prominent names off NoKo’s rolls. DJT’s expressed “disappointment” with China and policies of our “foolish past leaders” speaks to undeniable fact. Nikki Haley shines with a magnitude long unseen.
“Time for us to be in the UN is over.”
I can almost hear another Don sing “Turn Out the Lights, the Party’s Over”.
“Time to draw another line in the sand.”.....
Perhaps you missed it, odumbo is no longer in charge.
The purpose of the UN is to crush Israel.
The UN sees this Asian stuff involving nuclear proliferation as a boring distraction from the important task of helping Palestinians.
I agree with their emphasis on what is wrong with nk and why, but what is really going to happen?
Sell Wal-Mart before it's too late.
I love this woman!
Perfect message.
Christopher Walken, too.
