Sorry if there is a thread; I didn't see it.
McCain, Collins, and Murkowski voted No.
Republicans spent 7 years promising this, and they couldn't get it done.
The Republicans don't like Trump all that much, but he is willing to fulfill their promise that they made. Meanwhile, McCain, the GOP hero, helped kill their promise.
Just now on F&F Trey Gowdy says:
“Paul Ryan is a honorable man”
That would be political suicide for the GOP and Trump
Bet Mr Hero is already back in AZ to avoid press.
McCain has been a Senator for what? 30 years? More? He’s bullet proof. The people of AZ continually send him no matter what he does. It’s useless whining about him.
CONGRESS DOESN’T WANT ANYTHING TO CHANGE BECAUSE THAT ENDS THEIR GRAVY TRAIN. THEY CAN RAIL ALL THEY WANT ABOUT CROSS AISLE THIS AND AMERICAN PEOPLE THAT. F THEM. THEY’RE INTERESTED IN WHAT KEEPS THEM IN POWER AND WHAT GIVES THEM POWER. That means, status quo.
Sorry for the caps. Not re-typing that rant
On a one-vote margin, there are plenty of what-ifs. NH seat stolen last year, sure, as well as the Murkowski theft that you mentioned. But what about Sharron Angle and Ken Buck blowing the 2010 elections in NV and CO and Todd Akin and Richard Mourdock blowing the 2012 elections in MO and IN? Or the theft of the VA Senate seat in 2014? Or even President Trump deciding not to appoint ND RAT Senator Heidi Heitkamp (herself the beneficiary of a blown/stolen election in 2012) to the Cabinet, which wouldhave resulted in a Republican being appointed to the seat? The GOP easily could have 58+ Senate seats, which would have made three defections irrelevant.
We need to pick up as many Senate seats as possible in 2018. Yes, we need to elect conservatives, but before we label anyone who isn’t to the right of Ted Cruz a RINO we should keep in mind that Heller and Flake both voted for the bill, whereas we know how “conservative Democrats” from NV and AZ would have voted.
McCain is a cockroach
I’ll say it ...
I hope McClot drops dead of a cerebral hemorrhage - before the sun sets today!
He’s a worthless evil POS.
Too bad the VC didn’t do America a favor, and off the treasonous bastard!
This is the only solution. They’d get rid of it if they have to have Obamacare for themselves.
Political suicide is failing to repeal Obamacare, not forcing the GOP to do it. The former failure will result in immense losses in Congress in 2018.
Maybe they could override in the Senate. But I’m not so sure about the House. All of them are up in 2018.
I’m looking forward to visiting his gave,
Right after I’ve drank a litre of apple juice and taken a handful of laxatives.
Obamacare is now officially McCainCare - he took ownership of it tonight.
No one should think this was a close vote.
McCain willingly acted as a proxy for all the Sens who didn't really want this.
If not him, it would have been someone else. I bet that on a secret ballot this bill wouldn't have gotten 30 votes.
It’s ingenious and so cynical, if you think about it. Those other cowards probably struck a deal with McLame - something along the lines of “Hey John, since you’re going to be shuffling off the mortal coil in a few months anyway...”
Exactly.
McCain has nothing to lose now. Plus he was more than glad to stick it to the President.
The whole week was just theatrics featuring McCain.
Passing skinny repeal would have:
1. Immediately caused a pullout of payers in the exchanges, and
2. Triggered a “crisis” that would need massive subsidies to keep the exchanges afloat.
The Repubs would have essentially taken away healthcare from millions and then passed a tremendous spending bill to “save Obamacare.”
How do you think THAT would have played in 2018?
If anything, McCain likely did them a favor here.
They can still run on a half-assed, “We need more Senators and Reps to repeal Obamacare” platform.
