This guy certainly understands the numbers. I'm guessing we'll start to see a lot more of this. Time to short sell your NFL team? Yep!

Within a decade, the NFL will consist of robots battling to the death... ok, maybe a century.

The NFL is kaput. Maybe, at last, they’ll dig up the end zones at Giant Stadium.

“Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman John Urschel has quit the NFL just days after the world’s biggest study into a degenerative brain disease showed that it affects 99 per cent of players.”

You can kiss football good bye. Let the lawsuits begin.

Rush was right.

I question the sample in this study. The 111 brains donated for the study (out of thousands who have played) likely came from players whose families suspected brain damage.

I abandoned the NFL completely last year, along with many friends. NFL leftists sure picked a bad year to give millions of angry white men more free time with Trump as apresidential hopeful.

This guy is apparently a genius who is wasting his time in the NFL. Making a very sound decision to respect his mind.

The man is smart. He is getting out while his brain is still intact.

Very few people in any profession take the long view of life. Its not just in the NFL that you get your head bashed repeatedly and lose irreplaceable brain cells. Every day millions of young people use drugs and intoxicants and in many ways are doing the same thing. Country is getting dumber by its own hand.

49ers Tight End John Frank went to medical school. He retired after fiver years, and winning his first Super Bowl ring as a starter. (He won one his rookie year)

He’s not your typical football player.
He has other options and wants to keep his brain.

Good for him. Better to have your brain and no money than not have it and lots of money.

Understands math, but apparently not how selection bias invalidates statistical inference: the "study" is no study at all. The brains examined were donated by family members who believed the decedents had CTE. All that the "study" established is that CTE is easy to identify in late term.

It certainly does NOT imply or even come close to suggesting that 99% of football players will suffer from the disease.

I don’t know if football will die, but I imagine regular brain scans, both during and after the season will be required and maybe limits on total playing time. I think careers will be measured in minutes played and not seasons in the near future.

Rush will spend all of next week talking about this.

He was talking fb today...had to turn him off. Once he gets going on Apple or fb...it’s time [for me] to move on.

MIT is the best degree on the planet in relation to earnings over a 30 years period.

Football can do a two simple things to improve the health of players:
No more kick-off returns.
No more punt returns.

I know. It is heartbreaking to cancel two major parts of the game. But the health of players are more valuable than the numbers on the scoreboard.

>> the world’s biggest study into a degenerative brain disease showed that it affects 99 per cent of players.

“the world” doesn’t play American football.

>> 111 NFL players’ brains examined by Boston University, 110 showed signs of damage

Positions? And what years were they playing?

Dubious report.

He certainly is living up to his place in the intelligence spectrum.

Giving up the $$ and lifestyle of a NFL player requires intelligence and discipline. Hope his career using his degree is a full one.
