Reasons for the shocking drop are unclear, say researchers, and represent a huge and neglected area of public health __

Sperm counts among men have more than halved in the last 40 years, research suggests, although the drivers behind the decline remain unclear.
The latest findings reveal that between 1973 and 2011, the concentration of sperm in the ejaculate of men in western countries has fallen by an average of 1.4% a year, leading to an overall drop of just over 52%.
The results are quite shocking, said Hagai Levine, an epidemiologist and lead author of the study from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
While infertility treatments such as IVF can offer solutions to potential ramifications of the decline on one level, little has been done to address the root of the issue, said Levine, pointing out low sperm counts might also be an indicator of poorer health among men more generally.
This is a classic under the radar huge public health problem that is really neglected, he said.
It is not the first time researchers have highlighted concerns about sperm counts, but previous studies have been criticised, with some saying the decline could be down to changing laboratory methods, or studies failing to take into account whether participants were selected on the basis of infertility problems.
But the authors of the latest study say they have addressed such concerns, analysing only studies that used the same sperm count method, were of a reasonable size and involved men not known to have infertility problems or disease, among other measures.

I feel sorry for the people who had to do the lab work.
Tight briefs and skinny pants create heat, lower sperm count, or might be all those illegal drugs they take. Who knows we might need to add all that Franken food they eat.
"Phido"???
LOL!
Them turning into females may have something to do with it.
Neutered by the feminazis.
it’s all the unnatural crap in people’s bodies, either consumed or environmental
it’s no wonder there is dysfunction given diets nowadays
Yeah. I'm picturing a couple of guys talking to each other.
First guy: "What do you do for a living?"
Second guy: "I count sperm."
First guy: "Well... ummm... quite the weather we're having lately, isn't it?"
Reproduction is best left to younger people
>>>Those may have been your only 4 sperm!<<<
Oh snap, my pride is wounded!
Rats! I have to change my line. “ I can’t wait to introduce you to 99 million of my closest associates, in fact I consider them almost family.
That is so true, and Soy promotes in estrogen production. I know, as I have Breast Cancer with tumors that 'feed' on Estrogen, and is it ever hard to eat enough to not lose weight while avoiding all soy! Apparently soy is so inexpensive now that it is being used nearly everywhere - a long-time communist dream. Anything that is not plain meat or dairy I just about have to make at home to avoid soy. Hamburger rolls even have Soy oil, presumably to brush the tops so they brown when baked. I'm really glad to be retired, as I can make cookies, cupcakes, breaded meats, etc to freeze as I try to eliminate soy from my diet.
I don’t remember anyone counting my sperm. Sneaky rascals!
I’m not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express. I think a lot of it is caused by young men wearing bikini underwear. In order for the testicles to function properly, they must be hanging loose, swinging in the breeze; several degrees cooler than body temp. Look at nature. A bull, for instance. Swingin’ in the breeze. The Creator designed it that way.
Being from a family of rural health nuts, except for a brief time consuming dorm-type food in my college years, I’ve eaten only natural and unprocessed meat and veggies-I’ve read/heard about several substances said to decrease male fertility, even in small amounts-estrogen, soy and unhealthy diet.
T5’sguy dines on the same organic stuff I do, we both have physical jobs and work out at his place or mine 3-4 times per week-neither of us take any drugs at all, prescription or illicit-he fathered a couple of cubs before he was 30 with the 1st wife, and another one when he was over 50 with the 2nd. I’d be willing to bet if I were still fertile, he would be able to father one with me.
He has shown me several articles about the decrease in male fertility and potency from too much soy protein-soy is good for women, not men-look at the labels on processed food-that s*** is in much of the packaged food people eat. Pres Trump is said to not take drugs, and he was 60 when Barron was born...
As another poster pointed out, we are a nation with too many fatasses-that is detrimental to fertility, too, so maybe it is a combination of all those things-it appears that you really are what you eat...
I wonder if domestic animals regularly used in artificial insemination are showing similar drops. I breed horses and have not seen or heard of widespread drops in sperm count. These animals are exposed to many of the same chemicals as humans.
Underwear, specifically tighty whiteys
Amen-when I first started talking about lifetime exposure to chemicals in frankenfood and environment, only my fellow country people/organic nuts listened and agreed-now, at least some people in the wider world are taking notice-so maybe we natural living types are not so crazy after all...
Too much soy in the diet...soybeans are rich in estrogen, which feminizes men.
I wonder about that.
They eat a lot of soybeans and soy based products in China and Japan and other Asian countries and I have never heard that the men there suffer from infertility or low sperm counts.
LOL yes.
I’ve never heard of Scottish highlander men suffering from low sperm counts!
