Why people are getting the hell out of the Northeast
NY Post ^

Posted on 07/26/2017 9:06:34 AM PDT by TigerClaws

Winter is coming for the North.

Last year, three states in the Northeast — New Jersey, New York and Connecticut — landed in the top five places people were moving out of fastest, according to 2017 data from United Van Lines. (The other two states on the list were Illinois and Kansas.) And data from Pew Charitable Trusts found that while people are all about moving to the South (their population grew by nearly 1.4 million people from 2014 to 2015) and the West (866,000 more people,) the population growth in the Northeast is “sluggish.”

The Northeastern exodus is particularly acute in many big cities like New York City. Since 2010, more than 1 million people have moved from the New York area — which includes parts of New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island — to other parts of the country.

So why are so many northerners packing their bags? The insanely high cost

Data released on Wednesday by personal finance site GoBankingRates.com reveals that the No. 1 financial fear of people who live in the Northeast is that they will have to live in debt forever; the Northeast is the only region of the country that ranked this as No. 1. (The other regions put retirement as their No. 1.)

And no wonder they’re worried. The cost of living across the region is among the highest in the nation and three of the five most expensive states or districts in the country (New York, Washington DC, Massachusetts) are in the area. (The other two states are Hawaii and California.) Having to spend so much just to get by can make getting out of debt seem much harder. And housing costs and taxes in many of these states are also sky high.

It’s the “minority” vote that turns cities blue Look at the electoral maps. Why waste our votes on areas that are going to continue to bring in immigrants, and esp those that breed like rabbits? Let the Dums have the cities, the trends of blue to red will continue as Dim policies fail one after the other and the productive class moves out to red.

It is more important we secure our own areas, schools, shops, businesses, neighborhoods. Keep the bastards out. Let the queers and perverts move to Cali, NY, blue states where they can act out their perversion and suffer the consequences Same with illegals, let them go to their “Sanctuary Cities” (until we can get rid of them), crap on the streets and sidewalks, commit crimes, waste tax dollar$.

Try finding a carpenter or a plumber in the boonies of PA!

Self-Reliance is conservatism. Helplessness is the liberal mindset.

You had a lifetime to develop home skillsets instead of wasting away on cable TV. What have you been doing??

By age 30, an adult should have mastered plumbing, electrical and carpentry. Fortunately, it is learnable.

It’s in the early stages.

Following the Detroit model.

First the working people flee the high tax rates

Then home values fall and empty houses accumulate and are vandalized leading to ever lower existing home prices.

Just a matter of time until the cities are demolishing homes to clear the area of homes that can never be sold.

“Following the Detroit model.”

Detroit was virtually a one industry town——that cannot be said about the entire Northeast.

[You will just find more Northeasterners in Florida.]

It’s not the “northeasterners” that are so much the problem. It is the weather, lifestyle, and not having to pay $6000 in taxes for a 1,200sq ft townhouse....

Yeah, I can believe that. The country life has a way of making folks appreciate the gifts of this world; natural and otherwise. Cities, on the other hand, seem to bring out the worst. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, but the more government presence in an area, the more problems there seem to be. Out in the country, people learn how to care for themselves.

They are also getting out of the western States too.

As the Kali Kommies move into Colorado, business and people are fleeing. We are.

Detroit was virtually a one industry town——that cannot be said about the entire Northeast.

The economics are universal.

The North East is raising taxes so high that people and industry are leaving. New industries are locating in the South where taxes are lower.

Even rich Liberals are moving south and taking their wealth with them.

Cities of the North East are raising taxes to replace the lost revenue of the fleeing masses. Retiring city employees of the baby boomer generation are placing heavy loads on city employee retirement funds that can not be supported and can not be deferred. So taxes will continue to rise.

All of this points to one conclusion. This is an irreversible trend.

But it won’t be isolated to the just the North East. All of the major metropolitan cities will eventually come to this end. They all have promised too much and they can not tax enough to keep those promises with destroying themselves.

It’s very judgemental and narrow minded.

Sure is...and damned accurate.

It’s why I got out in ‘02. Woodside had finished circling the drain and was in the pipe. Would have left in ‘99 when I retired, but had to help take care of the folks. Used to tell co-workers, “When I retire, I’m emigrating to America.”

Made it!

It’s easy: people don’t realize how destructive their voting patterns are—or they wouldn’t vote that way. (Well, other than Jihadist sleeper cells, I suppose.)
