Schumer: McCain Said to Me, 'Let’s Get Immigration Reform Done’

Praising Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), now battling brain cancer, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Tuesday said McCain is thinking beyond the health care bill.

“You know, I love the man,” Schumer (D-N.Y.) told a news conference on Tuesday, after the Senate vote on a motion to proceed to a health care bill that is open to amendments.

“He's a great man," Schumer said of McCain. "We've been close friends. He even said to me when I called him this weekend, ‘Let's get immigration reform done,’ so he's thinking of the future. As you know, he and I worked on that [2013 comprehensive immigration reform] bill. And it was great to see him back, strong as he was.”

Let's put the shoe on the other foot. If a conservative tea party senator was dying of brain cancer, McCain and his amigo Schumer would be doing a happy dance. The only thing more self serving than what McCain did on the vote would be to have his remains wheeled in for future votes. He could be “The Crypt Keeper.” God help us.

NOTES---What’s remarkable here is just how unremarkable the story is, coming, as it does, out of Sen Schumer's district-----the Russian-centric Brighton Beach, Brooklyn.

Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, is famous for its Russian delicacies, entertainment, a population of highly-inflected Russian dialects, but mostly for its concentration of insurance fraud.

The NY Times reports, “Brighton Beach has one of the highest rates of health care fraud in the nation, according to federal statistics.

An analysis from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (agency regulates the two programs), shows that more health care providers in the Brighton Beach ZIP code.....Sen Schumer's district..... are currently barred from then-current healthcare programs for malfeasance than in almost any other ZIP code in the United States.

Thanks to Sen Schumer, Obamacare is theirs for the taking.
