Senate Dem: We’re Trying To Block A Recess Appointment To Replace Sessions
thehill.com ^ | 07/25/17

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said the Senate Judiciary Committee is "exploring" measures that would block President Trump from appointing an acting attorney general to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions during the August recess, effectively allowing him to circumvent the need for congressional confirmation.

"We're exploring the ways right now," Durbin said on MSNBC's "The Beat with Ari Melber."

The Illinois senator declined to offer further details when Melber pushed how they plan to prevent any attempt of Trump to replace Attorney General Jeff Sessions, adding that he's told Melber "as much as I can tell you at this moment."

The Tump/Sessions rift is a WWE drama trumping the deep state kabuki. He’s playing the players.

No, you don't. As with many, you pretend it's evidence and all it is, is a poor opinion. In fact, it's silly.

Read comment #58. That poster nailed it and is spot on.

“The Democrats want to protect the conservative Jeff Sessions”

That should tell you all you need to know about Sessions.
_______________________

I think it tells a lot more about the donks. Sessions has only said he’s not resigning and Trump has said he’s not pleased with his behavior in the position.

Tells us the donks will reflexively oppose Trump, no matter what.

May it blow up in their collective faces.

They can’t, that old post turtle Majority Leader controls when they recess. They have not recessed the Senate since 2011. McConnell is going to throw Trump a few bones to clear up the logjam.

Speaks volumes about how much they fear Sessions.

“I dunno, that seems like a stretch to me.”

Same here.

Let’s see Sessions unrecuse himself and fire Mueller and then I’ll believe that brilliant strategy.

I wish I were wrong. The globalists pay no price for selling out the American people.

We, at least native-born traditional Americans, are such an instinctive law-abiding people.

Someone like Eric Cantor, after pushing global trade agreements and immigration to undercut his own constituents, even when finally removed from office, is in no danger of being tarred and feathered but rather goes on to a multi-million dollar position at a global investment bank where makes a cut helping arrange deals in which the huge pools of capital created in foreign countries as the result of our gross trade imbalances is used to acquire businesses in the US and elsewhere.

I think the implication is that Trump and Sessions may have planned this all along. Now if Sessions begins to indict the Deep State this preempts Sessions from being attacked for unleashing a political witch hunt. All the Dems are now defending Sessions’ integrity.

That is the first thing I thought of. Rope a doping the establishment.

Look they are chasing the red light again

One of the other options is to leave Sessions where he is and appoint someone to run the Political Corruption Investigations. Make that new person a Deputy Attorney general reporting to Sessions directly, but handling all of the stuff that Sessions recused himself from. Sessions is doing a decent job on the immigration problem.

Maybe a recess appointment will clear this up.

Well, I hope June 27th doesn’t turn out like Glenn Beck’s world changing predictions.

I hope it’s true. I have a feeling we’re going to find out one way or another pretty soon. With the arrest of Imran Awan and Sessions going public regarding intel. leak investigations later this week, it looks like things are getting ready to come to a head.

How do you get your critics to make your case for you? Get them to unwittingly agree with you ahead of time.

“If I’m Durbin, and I’m serious about plotting ways to block a possible Trump recess appointment in August, why would I be talking about it to the press.”

He’s talking because that’s all he can do. Republicans control the recess process, so it would only be with their involvement that there could be anything to stop Trump from recess appointments. I just wish Ruth Buzzy Ginsberg would get her traditional 24 hour burial during the August Recess.

Trump is the master of manipulation. he has been doing it in business for years while dealing with the snobs who look down on hm. Now he is doing in DC.

I don’t see Sessions leaving, and I don’t see the fools of the swamp winning.

Even if he did fire Sessions, those of us who voted for him will not leave him, because we are tired of the swamp, and will stick with him.

No wonder the Dimms are incapable of accomplishing ANYTHING on behalf of the American public.

They're too damn busy constantly trying to thwart Trump and his efforts to serve the people.

I agree - I don’t think that Trump and Sessions have anything planned. Remember when so many on here believed that Trump and Cruz invented a feud. They really detested each other as the campaigns rolled along. I honestly don’t know what’s going on, but something comes to mind. I remember Sessions referring to himself as a colleague of the Senators who questioned him during the Intelligence haring. He caught himself and then said - “former colleague.” I don’t think Jeff has made the transition out of the Senate yet, and I also don’t believe he would go after anyone he feels is his colleague.

I’m not sure how I feel about Trump calling Sessions out in public like he has done. However, Sessions didn’t go to bat for Trump during his hearings either. He publicly humiliated Trump by recusing himself, and Trump always gives back 10x what he is given.

Sessions moves and thinks at a slower pace than Trump does, and that might get on Trump’s nerves some. I honestly believe there is a true rift between them. Sessions caused this witch hunt on Trump, his family and friends by recusing himself, and that was serious, in my book.

They need massive consumer debt in order to support a final last binge of spending.

Last I looked, Trump is no shrinking violet when it comes to planning on spending trillions of dollars.

He's getting no authorization to do so from the very folks you purport to be colluding to do the same very thing.

Most of Trump’s planned spending is in the form of loan guarantees for infrastructure projects.

My thought: Mueller needs a bit more time to start indicting most of Trump’s team, and Sessions is recused from firing him.

Session’s replacement will not be hampered by that...hence the Democrats simply cannot permit Sessions to be replaced, by any means - until it’s too late.

Trump’s trolling them. That’s what all this bad mouthing of Sessions is about. Have them anticipating a move that’s not coming any time soon.
