Charlie Gard will be allowed to die after his parents today made the heartbreaking decision to let him 'slip away'.
Chris Gard and Connie Yates arrived at the High Court in tears as they ended a campaign to save his life that has touched millions around the world.
They have battled for six months for their beloved 11-month-old son to be flown to the US for pioneering drugs to treat his rare strain of mitochondrial disease.
But they have now decided to let him die clearly believing that Great Ormond Street's refusal to let him travel to a New York hospital had cost him his chance.

Yes, this certainly should open more eyes!
I also worry that too many Republicans only want Obamacare lite, which can also lead to danger.
If I had my way, they would just REPEAL Obama”care” PERIOD.
Amen.
Western Europe is pretty much gone.
SINGLE PAYER = MURDER
“Note: In the United States, healthcare run by the federal government is not only oppressive, disastrous, and deadly, it is illegal because it is unconstitutional.”
A full Repeal would run it by SCOTUS again!
Wasn’t there a school superintendent in Michigan who said outright ‘we know what is better for kids than their parents’?
Enjoy watching the Dem Party IMPLODING on itself it is.
MAGA!
Yes. ANd if they had allowed that visit 6 months ago, EITHER the doctor would have found the same thing, in which case the parents would have known there was no chance and probably not spent the last 6 months in THAT hell, instead enjoying the time with their child before he was gone. OR he would have found the child still eligible for the treatment, in which case they would have had hope and a plan.
British law and medicine denied them either outcome, inflicting legalities on a personal decision. Shame.
"Death by Single-Payer"
SCOTUS doesn’t make national law nor does it trump the Constitution.
We can pray that Charlie’s parents feel God’s love and mercy, and Charlie is protected by God now and when he has to leave the world.
That’s all I can say right now. :*-(
That was my first thought, as well.
Who got to them?
btw...from the article: "allowed to die"??? A baby?
WTH! Unbelievable!

What happens to all the dinero everyone sent them?
“ and Republicans want this why??”
Because their corporate donors, who swiftly made them richer than Midas, with the promise of much more to come in the future, want it.
AMEN!
a third party ruled without the consent of the parents.
That’s not true..it was the parents who took this to the courts...their laws give the court then represents Charlie...it was only taken further when the court agreed with the hosptial’s decision with what was best for the child...the parents expected the court to rule in their favor. They didn’t. ..and it went from there.
I think that there was coercion involved here. The parents were clearly upset and weary and didn’t want a long fight.
If given the options, the parents would have continued the fight.
The judge overruled the parents.
“The poor infant has been fully brain dead for some weeks.”
Thanks Dr.
You’re consistent in your pro-death stance
Heartbreaking. Horrific. Reveals a nightmare world.
