Much of America Will Not Tolerate Mueller Undoing the Election
Watergate ended with a whimper, not a bang. After months of sturm und drang, Richard Nixon finally mounted that helicopter, gave that famous farewell peace sign and flew away. Most Americans were relieved to see him go. Our long national nightmare was over.
If something similar happens to Donald Trump, it will be entirely different. A significant portion of the American public myself admittedly among them will be convinced he has been railroaded in a partisan hatchet job. The voters who elected the president are going to feel, at the very least, undermined, more likely betrayed, by their own government and public officials. Many are going to feel this has nothing to do whatsoever with justice and will act accordingly.
The exact results of this mammoth national split are not easy to predict but they could range from massive civil disobedience to outright civil war.
The behavior of special prosecutor Robert Mueller has exacerbated the situation. Even CNN admits he has staffed his investigation almost exclusively with Democratic Party supporters and donors. It's hard to say whether this is brazen or stupid or both, but it certainly doesn't lend credibility to his eventual decisions. At the very least it's extremely unsophisticated for a former director of the FBI but perhaps that's really the way it is. Nothing (and no one) can stand in the way of prosecution.
And then there are the leaks that emerge from his supposedly confidential investigation at seemingly a mile a minute pace.....

That proposition is certainly arguable. I read the authorization as limited to the Trump campaign, which didn't even exist before 2015. It is also limited to criminal actions involving the campaign. IOW, if a campaign advisor is guilty of tax evasion, that has nothing to do with coordination between the Trump campaign and any Russian. Of course if people are lying about question in those confines, there is a legitimate case of false statements or obstruction.
The fact that other SC's got away with breaking the rules is not a license for Mueller to do so.
A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.
He says what I’m thinking. ..but in a much more polished tone...
That started against Mueller a couple weeks ago, and recently a bit more heat on Rosenstein. Trump's new legal tem is jazzed with this project, it is going to be so much fun.
Leaks of Mueller crimes would be a real hoot.
“Methinks the Liberty Tree will be watered soon!”
Patience for many has been exhausted, and I think we approach a point where there will be a dynamic reset either to the liberty we remember, or the tyranny the State pushes. Last ones standing win, and demographics are destiny only when there is linear continuity.
“Muellers mandate is worded so vaguely that he can investigate almost anything he wants.”
Ken Starr started by investigating Whitewater and we wound up with Lewinsky. Sucks having the shoe on the other foot, but its to be expected when you’re in power.
Mueller's reputation will be in tatters within two months. He's a partisan hack who has no business conducing an impartial investigation. Screw all the legal mumbo-jumbo about "conflict," look at how willing he was to expand scope without following regulations, hiring a team of partisan hacks. Mueller is on a mission to destroy Triump, not to clear the few counterintelligence investigations that Comey announced to the world on March 20th.
It actually lends a ton of credibility to his eventual decisions if he exonerates Trump of any wrongdoing.
What evidence do you have -- aside from media reports based on the same kind of unnamed "sources" -- that he has done any such thing?
President Trump would be a damn fool to even think about firing Mueller based on these reports from media outlets that he has justifiably derided as "fake news" for months.
Aside, Comey's grant to Fitzgerald was deliberately outside the regulations - Comey was a jerk about that, basically making Fitzgerald an independent Attorney General.
Mueller is bound by all of 28 CFR 600
That means his jurisdiction and any modification of it has to be approved by Rosenstein. See 28 CFR 600.4(b). Rosenstein can't duck accountability for Mueller's scope of jurisdiction. He may try to, but I don't think Trump and public pressure will allow him to.
Starr didn't have that regulatory limitation, and thanks to Comey specifically removing Fizgerald from 28 CFR 600, Fitzgerald had free reign too, although he appears to not have violated the regulations.
Mueller is demonstrating disrespect for the regulations, if he hasn't followed 28 CFR 600.4(b). And by all news accounts, Mueller has violated this regulation.
Something else to keep in mind is that the independent counsel statute expired in 1999 and was not renewed by Congress back then, so the legal parameters under which a "special counsel" operates today are very different than what they were back in Bill Clinton's days in office.
He doesn't have to fire Mueller in order to get this monster back in the box. Congress often demands testimony based on news reports. That's a concession that the report may be false. Trump's tem, and acrually Rosenstein should do this on his own without prompting, and Congress has an interest too, that DoJ follow it's own regulations, all of these people have a right to demand to see the scope of Mueller's investigation. Report are that Mueller is looking at real estate transactions from 2008 and 2013. How can those conceivably be related to an election campaign that didn;t exist before 2015? And how can those transaction possibly be an attempt to influence the outcome of an election, or work to the benefit of the Trump campaign, e.g., illegal money in campaign coffers.
Democrats put 2 innocent Republican politician in prison for fake hoaxes like this Russia fake Hoax. democrats put Scooter Libby in prison for doing nothing. Also Tom Delay.
You also remember these government goons put another Innocent person Martha Stewart in prison for what? They make it up as they go along.
If I was Trump I would tweet “I have a bad case of hemorrhoids, perhaps Mr Mueller would like to see them.”
He also gave an even bigger clue when the Department of Justice issued that strange press release (with Rosenstein listed as the official who authorized its release) back in mid-June that gave the following warning:
Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous 'officials,' particularly when they do not identify the country -- let alone the branch of government -- with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated.
I immediately saw that as a message that was intended to tell the American public that most of the media reports they were hearing about the Mueller investigation were complete bullsh!t.
Mueller is framing Trump. Fire Mueller. Why give democrats the Chance when Trump has done nothing and they've been investigating for a almost a year and nothing.
There are no reasons for these investigations only fake news media reports who as everyone knows out to topple Trump. This is a coup by Muller and Trump. Mueller should be hung for treason and all you do is defend this goon Mueller . You must want the millions of pages of regulations Pence or Hillary will give you right? Trump has reduced regulations and that's why you socialists hate him.

Remember all the B.S. about Comey? After months of fake media reports based on "leaks" from unnamed sources, Comey was finally forced to admit under oath that President Trump was never even under investigation by the FBI. Ten bucks says Mueller would have to say the same thing if he was asked a direct question about his investigation right now.
If they are looking into Trumps business dealings (and tax returns) before he ran for election, then that cannot have anything to do with Russian interference during the election. It really is that simple.
He hasn't seen the backlash from that yet. Trump does not have to allow Mueller to go outside his jurisdiction (which is a totally different question from conflict management) without making a big public noise about it.
If Rosenstein has somehow assured Trump's lawyers that Mueller is not investigating Manfort's 2008 and 2013 real estate deals, and whatever other specific avenues have been described in the press, maybe fine. But I think the PUBLIC INTEREST and the INTEGRITY OF THE DOJ is better served if Rosenstein assures the public of that.
And Rosenstien's dodge, if not trolling the press or a mis-statement, needs to be called out. Sessions did not apply that "we'll deal with after the results" standard, and Mueller can't either. Mueller and his team are under the same conflict regulation that bound Sessions.
I do recall Rosenstin's odd press release that amounted to don't believe the press. It served it's purpose. A reference to that will not give the public any comfort that Mueller is following the regulations and is staying within his jurisdiction.
