(Not in this article--"Kelli Ward says McCain should quit so she can take over on an Indiana radio station today.")
The last Republican to run against Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) called on him to step down "as quickly as possible" following his Wednesday cancer diagnosis.
LOL....

There’s video at youtube of McCain’s election night speech in November 2016. I think he and his wife already knew his outlook was grim. She looked very sad and he seemed resigned.
I don’t know anything about her. But the reality is that McCain will probably never return to the senate once his chemo and radiation begin. I have neither love nor much respect for him, but he should definitely give up his seat while he is competent to make such a decision, because I think he’ll soon be in a position where he will be unable to do so. Then we’ll be stuck with an essentially vacant seat until he actually dies unless there’s some provision in the law for removal due to incapacity.
McCain is too selfish to resign. Who else will carry the Dem water if he leaves?
You instantly lose any possible argument you may be trying to make, when you resort to profanity/name calling.
Kelli, you will have to pull that Senate seat from McCain’s cold dead hands. It is all about him not those he serves when it comes to that seat.
Problem is Dr Ward IS right. Due to his age, my opinion is that Sen. McCain will deteriorate rapidly with the onset of treatment. Sister in law of a co-worker passed away this spring from the same disease and to say her last months were brutal is a cosmic understatement.
If he cares about his family .... he should spend as much time with them as he can while he is still able to do so. After the disease progresses ... I do not have words for it.
While I have made no secret that I do not like his political bent ... I would NEVER wish this diagnosis on ANYONE. It is simply too horrible for words.
My heart and prayers, for whatever they are worth, go out to him and his family.
You do not get to decide who posts at Free Republic.
We do.
Stop the senseless name calling and swearing (post #70) and you can keep your posting privileges at the present level.
I didn't know that there are levels of posting privileges on FR. Can you provide more about this or tell me where to find it?
A lot of long time Senators believe they are indispensable. It is amazing how long they persist in believing this, however, eventually they will find out.
She’s basically asking McCain to do the right thing for the people of Arizona.
Hardly scandalous.
There are banning, muting, and suspension.
Yep.....the outcome even currently for McCain isn’t the least bit favorable... He’s already showing evidence of the dastardly destruction this disease brings on it’s victims...and it’s very aggressive, even with treatment, because the treatment can’t get to where these tentacles have burrowed into the brain matter........I suspect the family might decide to use experimental means but even these are not showing a favorable outcome.
As to if or not he decides to spend time with his family....and leave politics.....I never saw him as much of a family man to begin with so won’t be surprised if he attempts to have his say one way or another.
Thumps up!
Curious...isn’t John McCain up for reelection next year?
Didn’t McSally come out with an homage to her beloved mentor McCain? I was surprised because I thought she was supposed to be one of the good guys. Either I was wrong or she’s gunning to be his replacement. She’s just not as obvious as Kelli.
*Full disclosure: I voted for Kelli last time and will again. She was only stating the obvious: McCain is an 80-year-old man with a malignant brain tumor. Most people would want to spend their last days on earth with their wife and family, but apparently McCain craves power more. And yet Kelli is the bad guy here?!?!
First McCain: My dislike of him aside, as a veteran I am grateful for his service. As the son of a deceased victim of an aggressive cancer, I agree he needs to step down. He and his family face a brutal (and let's be honest, a losing) fight ahead. He's 80, and that won't help. He's facing the end-game.
Now Flake: I've seen reports of polling that have him losing his primary, and badly, to Ward. He's not well-loved, and I'm not sure even McConnell can save him, as he did in the case of Cochran from Mississippi.
A close friend of mine is a retired MD, and he is fighting Glioblastoma/astrocytoma right now...
He has had the very best of care and is participating in all of the latest research studies.
He has lived a 4 months past average expectancy and has a few months to go yet, but he is nowhere near the same man as he was....
And McManiac wasn’t much of a man after Vietnam to start the fight with.
He should retire.
He should fight his battle, but if he goes the cutting, poison, and nuking route, he will be dead within the year.
If he goes for alternative treatments, he may beat the cancer. At any rate, he won’t be worse off.
I’m not saying Ward is bad, just that vying for McCain’s seat does us less good than if she can capture Flake’s seat.
If she gets appointed, then Flake will be reelected. If another conservative, which is likely, is appointed, we still have a chance to also get rid of Flake. Better for her to get a seat for six years, then almost have to immediately defend it which she would have to do with McCain’s seat.
It’s all tactics. Why just win one when you are guaranteed to win one, and might win two?
