(Not in this article--"Kelli Ward says McCain should quit so she can take over on an Indiana radio station today.")
The last Republican to run against Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) called on him to step down "as quickly as possible" following his Wednesday cancer diagnosis.
I’d like to see Ducey pick Russell Pierce. The left hated him so much they hounded him out of office. In order words a beautiful replacement.
He IS near-dead. A glioblastoma dx IS a death sentence.... the only question is how long he has left.
McCain should step aside NOW ofr his own sake, the sake of his family, the sake of the Party, AND the sake of the Nation.
Before Ward’s gaffe, I would have put her chances of being appointed to McCain’s seat at 30% with McSally at 70%. Now I think McSally’s chances are at 90%.
Kelli Ward is at times tactless. She is running against Flake, and she should continue to do so. If she beats him, she will have won on her own merits.
So instead of replacing McCain (and thus leaving Flake in office), it would be far better to replace McCain with the other female Republican, Martha McSally.
She is a retired United States Air Force Colonel and the first American woman to fly in combat following the 1991 lifting of the prohibition of women in combat. She flew the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II ‘Warthog’ close air support aircraft over Iraq and Kuwait during Operation Southern Watch.
She is the first woman to command a USAF fighter squadron, the 354th Fighter Squadron (354 FS) based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
She also sued the Department of Defense challenging the military policy that required U.S. and U.K. servicewomen stationed in Saudi Arabia to wear the body-covering abaya when traveling off base in the country. She had been fighting for a change in the policy for seven years, and had filed the lawsuit after she had been threatened with a court martial if she did not comply and wear the abaya.
She’s a physician. She understands that like it or not, McCain will die very soon, so it only makes sense to call on him to do the right thing for his State and his Country.

They wont let Pierce into the club. Jeff Dewitt maybe?
Sounds good to me.
You’re pretty dense. That isn’t the point cupcake. Re-read the post.
“someone who isn’t near dead yet”
McCain should resign. He won’t be able to do his job in the senate anytime in the near future. The GOP can’t afford to be one vote short for long. For the good of the country McCain should go. Maybe he can join Obama in his world tour when he gets cured. Kelli is just telling the truth. Maybe that bothers you.
“...Ducey can pick whoever he wants to (and he is apparently a Trump guy).”
Here’s hoping Jan Brewer ends up as Senator Brewer (R).
Brewer? Great! Can she get rid of her wrinkles first?
“Martha McSally”
But isn’t she a female version of McCain?

I’ve been a supporter of hers, but that was not a good move. Wish him well. If he steps down, then step up for his seat. If McCain recovers, she is running vs. Flake in 2018. Flake will certainly have a field day with this.
The Deep State isn’t going to let McCain vacate his seat that easily. He’ll be the Ruth Ginsburg of the Senate. Oh wait.. HE IS.
John, either start being a decent man while you still can, or just hurry up and die.
Leave something positive behind.
Tides have shifted. Your thinking is about 3 years out of date. Things will shift back, eventually, but these days ‘playing nice’ with the establishment is a losing strategy.
Stick to the Benjamin Jowett rule (whether Jowett ever said it or not is a different question): “Never apologize, never explain. Get it over with and let them howl”
McCain's got a lot of anti-Trump scorched earth stuff to do yet before he goes off to rot in hell.
You nailed it. The politically correct game is dead.
Politicians are better off expressing exactly what they are thinking. If it makes people uncomfortable and generates headlines it’s a bonus.
