The last Republican to run against Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.) called on him to step down "as quickly as possible" following his Wednesday cancer diagnosis.

I personally think Gov Ducey will appoint himself if it comes to that. There is almost a full term left in the senate seat.

Kelli Ward made a respectable showing in the primary against mccain. She did better that you would think someone challenging an incumbent usually does. In a 5 way race it looked to be not too close, mccain 51% Ward 39% but two other candidates siphoned 9.1% and I assume they were not going to mccain in any case.
