There is something more than a little jarring in the ongoing humiliation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
In an ill-timed, ill-focused interview with the NYT, President Trump revisited his disdain for Sessions, his first, most-ardent and most-loyal supporter in the Senate.
When supporting Trump was still considered career suicide, Sessions donned the red cap anyway. Maybe it will prove fatal for Sessions’ career, after all.
The president has not made a secret of the fact that he blames Sessions for the scandal that now engulfs the Trump administration, claiming in contravention of all available evidence that somehow if Sessions had not recused himself from the investigation into Trump’s 2016 campaign that his White House will not be under siege.
“How do you take a job and then recuse yourself?” Trump asked reporters rhetorically. “If he would have recused himself before the job, I would have said, ‘Thanks, Jeff, but I’m not going to take you.’ It’s extremely unfair – and that’s a mild word – to the president.”
Sessions seems an odd target for Trump’s blame, given how other members of his inner circle including his son, his son-in-law, his former campaign chairman and his former national security advisor have all laid the president open to the scrutiny of special counsel Robert Mueller.

You realize don’t you that for most of our history, the STATE governments chose their senators. It is relatively recent that the people elect them.
A dem never would have recused himself in the same situation. Lynch and Holder never recused themselves for the Obama crimes. We need a Republican that’s tough as nails and not afraid—like Trump. Surely there is someone qualified to be AG that has a spine.
Classify Sessions AG for Immigration.
Appoint a non Congressman as AG.

I hope you are correct. Sessions is a decent, honorable, and very capable public servant whose primary loyalty is -
as it should be - to his country. His role in supporting Trump early played no small role in the President being elected. Sessions is nobody’s fool and those who think otherwise gravely underestimate a truly noble American.
“I recused myself not because of any asserted wrongdoing on my part during the campaign,” Sessions said. “But because a Department of Justice regulation, 28 CFR 45.2, required it.”
OK. Then Sessions should have offered, at the very least, his resignation when he recused himself. Now Trump's right flank is open to attack by the Deep State.
The AG works for “We the People”, the Constitution and the Rule of Law. Period.
You’re exactly right with your first premise. I’d like to disagree with you on the second but the jury is still out.

Would you do that to your boss? Sessions should have, at the very least, offered his resignation when he recused himself. But Sessions did not, and now Trump's right flank is open to the attacks from the Deep State for years to come. Disgusting.
Rex Tillerson is Secretary of State. The AG heads the Department of Justice. Maybe Tillerson should be held accountable for cleaning up the department he heads.
Jeff was a good Senator...But in hindsight I think Jeff was a poor choice for AG...He seems to be in the wrong league...And he knows it...Could be that was a major factor in him bowing out...
The AG works indirectly for the People.
The AG directly answers to the Chief Executive. The Chief Executive answers to the People every four years in an election.
An AG who wishes to remain independent of the president is NOT working for the Constitution, the Rule of Law and the American People.
This is not just about one man; Trump won because he was a better choice than Hillary and because he made promises that people believed. He may well love America and he is clearly intelligent and probably the best businessman alive today. If you’re sick and tired of hearing about honorable men, and if you believe that Trump is the only target of the Deep State, and that Jeff Sessions is the one responsible for the current state of affairs, then you have a very narrow view of history and of human nature.
There are three logical fallacies and one outright error in your assertions. But who cares about logic anymore? Let’s just go with our feelings and let reason and right and common sense be trampled in the dust.

Sessions HAD a chance to put this whole thing to rest. He didnt want to. Further when he testified he did NOTHING to help Trump...he only defended his own “honor”. Someone got to Sessions and gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
