Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), a leading conservative in the U.S. Senate and driving force on the healthcare debate that has played out this year, told Breitbart News exclusively on Tuesday he is pleased that the U.S. Senate is going to move forward on efforts to pass a clean partial repeal of Obamacare. Paul, one of the four GOP U.S. Senators who publicly opposed the Senate health bill that aimed to simultaneously repeal and replace Obamacare leading to its eventual demise, has been driving debate on healthcare in the U.S. Congress.
In the wake of the Senate bills ultimate failure on Monday night, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and President Donald Trump both publicly backed the idea hes been pushing publicly for months now: That Congress should pass a clean repeal of Obamacare now, the bill they did in fact pass in 2015, then worry about the replacement later. Former President Barack Obama vetoed that bill then, but President Trump would sign it.
Im encouraged that were moving towards a clean repeal, Paul told Breitbart News. Ive been advocating for some time that an insurance company bailout is not what we should be voting on. So now weve gotten rid of the insurance company bailout and were going to vote on what we voted on in 2015...."

Lead, follow, or get out of the way !
This "principled" talker needs to pull his head from his ass!
Oh brother, is he still making believe that something will pass on this?
If he really believes in what he says he should be personally rounding up the votes so its not another failure.
Why is he in the minority? He represents how more Americans feel.
He is more aligned with Trump then not.
What worries me is how there is always only a few “token?” fighters.
Then we all say stuff like “i like him” and “he’s a fighter”
And it take forever to get the right stuff done.
Kind of strange how the fighters are so few?
How Americans keep re-electing non-fighters to stand up for them?
Rhetorical questions.
“Rand Paul is a dim witted moron...”
Dr. Paul practiced ophthalmology for 18 years before becoming a senator in 2010.
Ever know an ophthalmologist? Full medical school then two more years of specialized eye surgery school.
Dr. Paul is NO dim witted moron...
Please try not to embarrass yourself any further.
The vampire of Obamacare.
I hope you just forgot the sarcasm tag on your comment.
When you have a moment between telling yourself how much God likes you, check out His advice on bearing false witness. It’s pretty good!
The heart of the problem is the 17th amendment. Until it is repealed; the Washington RINO RNC elite hold all the trump cards. This allows them to control who is elected/reelected and therefore how they vote in the Senate.
Rand Paul is a backstabbing neverTrumper working every inside angle to ensure that Trump fails.
You can recognise them easy enough, they are the "true conservatives" leading the true believers over the cliff.
Rand Paul wasn't part of that task force.
I never understood why the GOP leadership would leave a freaking medical doctor off that task force.
Civil War 2.0 - A conflict between the militia of the several states and the deep state establishment that was fought to restore Constitutional rule. It began when a majority of Senate Republicans joined all of the Democrats in voting to override President Trump’s veto of a bill extending large subsidies to insurance companies under the Affordable Care Act.
IF we vote for true conservatives well only have about 15 or so Senators.
I’d put the number at 0. +/- one. Let us recall the “true conservatives” in the US Senate who could barely lift a finger to help defeat Hillary & her Constitution destroying SCOTUS. They are self serving careerists playing a role in beltway beltway kabuki theater. Conservatism to the benefit of Main Street is the last thing on their minds.
Dr. Paul should go back to what he knows best.
Rand Paul is NOT a “never Trumper”
Each comment you post just serves to exhibit your ignorance.
And you should go to Hell.
The problem boils down to a few women.
Give them some new shoes and a few billions and they might come around.
Both Collins and Rand opposed the Obamacare bill. The proof is in the pudding. There is not a dimes worth of difference between them in my book. It’s all beltway theater to dupe the folks back on Main Street into thinking GOP plantation conservative opposition from the likes of Rand and Mike Lee is real. I no longer believe it is.
Do I sense LDS? (Libertarian Derangement Syndrome)
A clean partial repeal.
Oh brother again.
Since Paul is bragging that this was his idea for months now he should round up the votes.(But I don't think his plan was ever for this to pass)
I have no idea what McConnell is going to do on this but if they go for a vote and it fails it will be portrayed as an humiliating Trump failure.

If Congress fails to vote on a replacement at the same time as repeal, Paul wrote back then, the repealers risk assuming the blame for the continued unraveling of Obamacare. For mark my words, Obamacare will continue to unravel and wreak havoc for years to come.
So when was Rand (John Kerry) Paul right? When he was for “repeal and replace” or when he was against “repeal and replace”?
