Trudeau says he did not reach out to soldier's widow in wake of Khadr payout (cowardice displayed)

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he did not reach out to Tabitha Speer in the wake of his government's decision to apologize and compensate Omar Khadr.

Speaking to reporters in Rhode Island after delivering the keynote speech at the National Governors Association conference on Friday, Trudeau also would not comment on reports former prime minister Stephen Harper called both Speer and wounded U.S. soldier Layne Morris after the settlement became public.

"I did not reach out and I have no comment on what the former prime minister did," he said.

Earlier this month, the federal government formally apologized to Canadian-born Khadr, giving the former Guantanamo Bay prisoner a reported settlement of $10.5 million.....

..."I understand how Canadians are troubled by this, including by the settlement, as am I," Trudeau said, explaining that he made the decision to settle with Khadr because he was advised that pursuing the matter through the courts could have ended up costing taxpayers four times as much.

I'm not sure that the widow of hero would be bothered taking a call from a coward like Trudeau, who is more concerned with losing a few dollars than he is with true justice. Stephen Harper would have fought paying out this pathetic terrorist until every dime had been exhausted in keeping him from receiving one red cent. And an apology would never come from his breath.

Trudeau and his lame excuses are pathetic.

Being a Canadian myself, and feeling less and less welcome on these boards lately, even though I never voted for Little Justin, I can assure you that I have already written letters to my MP and various other officials about this abomination.

Maybe the widow’s state Attorney General needs to step up the game, and Little Justin, himself needs to be sued on a personal level, as well as the Canadian federal government, and the judge, who allowed this.

Truthfully, to me this means something simpler. If Canada regards Gitmo as inhumane, the next time a Canadian citizen might be sent there, they should not go to Gitmo in the first place. If their earthly remains are consumed by dogs and insects in Afghanistan, it solves everyone’s problem.

I’m still grateful to Canada for their role in freeing some of the Iranian hostages in 1978. I have a long memory and I won’t let little people like Trudeau spoil it for me.

I would more count on Harper to be advising the widow’s lawyers on how the payment will be made so they can file the appropriate documents to seize the money before it is given to the murderer.

As for the current PM; well, why would he call the victim’s family? As far as liberals are concerned, the murderer is the victim because he went to that nasty prison for terrorists...

That Jihadi Bastard should have been flayed alive and his body hung outside the Capitol Building.

This is intolerable.

Was Canada responsible for sending the muzzie murderer to Gitmo? If not then why is Canada responsible for his time there and why are they paying him this money?

Mind boggling isn't it? Good, patriotic, right minded Canadians, must be shaking their heads in disgust these days. Trudeau must be a national embarrassment.

They were taken hostage in 1979, and rescued in 1980.

I say we bill the Canucks $10.5 MM for his room and board.

There’s many of us Canucks on the board who do what we Canadians always do - read, think about it, maybe pray about it (if we’re believers), but we don’t raise a stink about things. Partly it’s heritage, partly it’s inculcated by our eternal lack of national identity (if we’ve had one, it’s been that we’re not American, first and foremost). But, I think mostly that we just want to be left alone, as true conservatives are wont to do.

As for The Boy Trudeau, well, Canada seems to go through these paroxysms every 10 years or so. One can only hope that the coming generation will be so revolutionary as to destroy the entire socialist/progressive paradigm from the government down to the education (sarc) system.

Happy belated Dominion Day to you.

That is exactly what former PM Stephen Harper did.

You’d think after the last eight years, we’d be used to “intolerable”.

We’re not.

Judy, I see you are Canadian. Can you please shed some light on this fiasco? Is there a law in your country covering this sort of thing? The excuse that if the Gov’t had to fight this in court it would cost 4 times more assumes the plaintiff actually has a case against your government. If so, what is the complaint?

Sorry...it sounds like it was more a sympathy call than legal advice but the gesture was appreciated.

Trudeau says his attorneys advised him to make this payment to the terrorist? Are these Sharia-Compliant attorneys, by any chance? Unbelievable! Sacre’ Bleu!
I don’t think this is being fully reported in Canada.
That, or their media is aiding Trudeau by refusing to expose what happened. Same way the American media aids and abets whatever Democrat presidents do.

Will always remember Gander, Newfoundland’s role after 9/11. And a couple of snipers from the Princess Patricia Rifles were the best shots I ever met. I fish all winter with a retired police chief from Ontario, then we head up to northern Ontario in May when the fishing gets good up there.

Canada’s no more Trudeau than America was Obama. And we did enjoy Rob Ford (may he r.i.p.).

There’s a lot of stupid stuff to get sorted, and we’re all going to need to stick together to get rid of the parasites who think doing govt full time is an acceptable form of employment. So hang in there, eh?
